adidas Copa 20+ or adidas Copa Sense

PAULO DYBALA's FOOTBALL BOOTS

Design

The design is a complete departure from its predecessor and is a real game-changer in the world of adidas football boots. The ribbed pattern and more classic style of the Copa 20 have been ditched in favour of a smoother, more seamless look with the FusionSkin, as the upper’s weave runs forward rather than sideways.

The truth is that the design is simply an improvement, revamping the boot’s look whilst retaining its essence: a blend of natural leather and synthetic materials, resulting in a very modern leather boot in true adidas Copa style.

Structure

The foam inserts on the inside give the boot a less “puffy” look than its predecessor and alter the “cut” of the fusionSkin, as the seam between the natural leather and Primeknit is irregular, following the pattern of the foam. This makes the seam look much more natural and also provides extra reinforcement, greatly enhancing the boot’s overall feel.

The sole has also been redesigned, whilst retaining the line’s signature features: a stable sole with semi-conical studs, featuring a central double-stud that significantly improves stability. In addition, two studs of a different density have been incorporated on the outer side to facilitate quick turns and ball control—a characteristic often seen in Copa players such as Pedri González and Papu Gómez.

Feel

And that brings us to the key feature of these new adidas Copa Sense boots: the feel. The new inner linings in the heel counter anchor our foot more securely to the base and, consequently, to the boot as a whole. Furthermore, the leather treatment gives us a much more uniform boot, as it doesn’t have a straight cut. The truth is that the feel of the boot is superior to its predecessor and it offers a much better fit in both the laceless and laced versions.

If we had to find a single drawback, it would perhaps be that the amount of natural leather on the front is slightly reduced, something that doesn’t bother us personally, as it doesn’t alter the boot’s design and provides leather where we really need it. However, for those who prefer a more traditional style, this is a point you should be aware of.

And these are the main changes and improvements in the new adidas Copa Sense football boots compared to their predecessor. The truth is that a lot has changed, but we can say without a doubt that this is a better football boot; whilst it may stray slightly from that classic natural leather feel, the result is one of the best football boots we’ve seen so far this year.
