Fútbol Emotion Boot Spotting #6

With the end of the year fast approaching, we are seeing more and more surprises on the pitches of the world’s top football leagues. From new products set to be unveiled to trials of blackout-themed prototypes, there is plenty of news, as well as a number of player transfers between clubs that are on the verge of being finalised.

Héctor Bellerín (Arsenal FC) - Nike Tiempo Premier II SG-Pro Anti-Clog

The Spanish Arsenal FC footballer, who usually wears Nike football boots – particularly from the Mercurial Vapor range – caused a surprise in the latest North London derby. In the match against Tottenham Hotspur, the player took to the pitch wearing one of the most well-balanced models in the brand’s catalogue in terms of value for money. Bellerín wore the Nike Tiempo Premier II SG-Pro Anti-Clog, a boot designed for comfort and ball control, which also stood out for its colourway, perfectly matching Arsenal’s kit.

Timothy Weah (Lille OSC) - New Balance Tekela next-gen

The American footballer at Lille OSC has been spotted in recent weeks wearing what appears to be a new generation of the New Balance Tekela, both in training and in official matches. The boot features a completely redesigned upper, with a structure incorporating 3D grip elements visible in the material. The appearance of this prototype in a vibrant red colour has provided a clearer view of the changes in this future generation of New Balance football boots.

Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) - adidas Copa 20.1

Sergio Ramos seems to have become a regular feature in this section over the past few weeks. And all because negotiations between his current sponsor and the player have yet to reach a successful conclusion. Over the past week, the Real Madrid player has worn football boots from different brands, albeit only in training. What appeared to be a simple marketing ploy by the player to put pressure on Nike has taken on a new dimension, as in yesterday’s Champions League match the Real Madrid centre-back took to the pitch wearing a pair of adidas Copa 20.1s from the Precision to Blur Pack. Mind you, with the German brand’s three stripes in a blackout version.

Neymar JR (Paris SG) - Puma Future Z

Following the huge buzz generated by his switch to Puma under the slogan “The King is Back”, the truth is that the Brazilian star’s spell wearing Puma Kings for Paris SG was short-lived. After several weeks training in a prototype of the new Puma Future football boots, Neymar wore Puma’s new official boot range yesterday against İstanbul Başakşehir FK in a match in Europe’s top club competition. These are the new Future Z boots, whose main new feature is that they do not incorporate NetFit and instead feature a strap across the midfoot, providing a compressive fit.
