New Balance 2021 collection

New Balance Football has just taken its first step onto the pitch in 2021. With the launch of the new Furon 6+ and Tekela V3, the American brand has officially unveiled its first collection for the new year, which we are likely to see on the pitch worn by its top players.

It took the Boston-based brand a while, but it has finally unveiled the first designs for its New Balance football boots for the start of 2021. Despite the brand’s recent successes in sports marketing through well-executed collaborations, such as its technical sponsorship of AS Roma or the addition of Arsenal FC’s young star, Bukayo Saka, to its roster of players, New Balance Football is fully aware of the tough road ahead against other brands with far greater tradition in the beautiful game.

New Balance football boots for 2021

Although this collection does not introduce a new generation or a complete update, it does feature some interesting new additions. Its most popular model, the New Balance Furon football boots, whilst not incorporating any new technological features, give the impression of a refreshed silhouette. This is likely due to minor design tweaks that have brought about this visual change, whilst retaining all the characteristics of the model from the previous collection. For their part, the Tekela boots arrive in this new collection with only a slight redesign, giving them a more understated yet, at the same time, very elegant look.

New Balance Furon 6+

The recently revamped NB Football Furon boots feature in this collection without any significant technological changes. However, that doesn’t mean they aren’t among the most underrated football boots around at the moment – and completely unfairly so. The Furon 6+ incorporates FIT WEAVE technology into its upper, a revolutionary knitted fabric that prioritises lightness and comfort. In the central area of the boot, its ‘chassis’, we find new features in the ‘sock’ and the lacing area itself. On the sole, these speed boots feature 11 triangular studs, one of which is positioned at the front and in the centre, oriented differently from the rest with a single aim: to provide greater support and stability during sprints, sudden stops and changes of pace. As such, the boots worn by players such as Tatiana Pinto come in a “Lime Glo / Citrus Punch” colourway.

New Balance Tekela V3

The major innovation of the New Balance Tekela boots is the inclusion of a laceless upper, making this range the brand’s first to adopt this technology. These Tekela boots, which feature one of the best colourways in this collection – “Cyclone Grey / Bleached Lime Glo / Citrus Punch” – are clearly designed for players of all types. The outsole features a lighter nylon chassis and multi-directional TPU studs, which improve traction on the pitch and aid acceleration on firm ground.
