New Phantom GT Academy FlyEase

Nike unveiled the latest revolution in the football boot market yesterday under the slogan ‘Football For All’. This is not just a new boot, but a technological innovation that will both enable and greatly simplify the act of putting a boot on our feet. The new Phantom GT boots were chosen to launch this project, whose main aim is to make football accessible to everyone.

Since its launch by Nike, FlyEase technology has been used in many of the American brand’s sports shoe models. Basketball and athletics were the first to adopt it, and now it was time to make its mark in the beautiful game. This technology has just made a grand entrance into football, as the model chosen for this launch was none other than the new crown jewels of Nike Football: the new Nike Phantom GT football boots.

The most obvious feature of FlyEase technology is that it offers users a great solution for opening and/or closing their football boots whilst ensuring they feel secure when doing so, using just one hand or none at all. To this end, and contrary to what many people think, there is already a wide variety of football boots available worldwide that feature an upper with a zip fastening or even a Velcro system with small straps to secure them. But nothing comes close to what Nike has managed to develop and bring to market with these Phantom GT Academy boots.

We all know that some football boots are extremely difficult to put on and take off. However, thanks to this new and revolutionary system, Nike is offering all its users a much simpler option, one that is also specifically designed for people with disabilities – hence the slogan: ‘Football For All’.

Carson Pickett, a defender for Orlando Pride, says: “Honestly, my first reaction when I saw the Phantom GT FlyEase was one of relief. I thought about my younger self and what it would have meant to me if something like this had existed when I was growing up. I feel like this boot represents me and anyone else who is unique. FlyEase is really easy for anyone to slip on quickly, which I love.”

These Nike football boots feature a unique lacing system: at the back of the boot, there is a foldable panel that acts as a heel counter. This panel is connected to the heel via FLYWIRE cables, ensuring a perfect fit. That first movement of slipping your foot into the boot like this will make you feel as though you’re slipping your feet into your favourite slippers. This same counterforce is adjusted and secured to the wearer’s foot via the lightweight, wraparound strap at the top of the boot, which also uses the same Flywire cables to maintain the right amount of tension during any type of movement the footballer makes.

These are the new and innovative Phantom GT FlyEase. These boots were previously only available in Nike’s mid-range range, but you can now pre-order them at Fútbol Emotion.
