Nike Academy, the biggest campaign of young talents

We spent a day in the Nike Academy to see how it works from the inside of this center of excellence aimed at young talents under 20 years in Birmingham.

For most sports there are high performance centers where young talents are concentrated and devote heart and soul to train as athletes to become professional athletes. In football, until recently, there was nothing like this, but Nike noticed it and in 2009 got down to work to fix it. And it was born, the largest recruitment campaign remembered worldwide as far as football is concerned: Nike The Chance. An exhaustive selection process of young talent throughout the world ended up concentrating in Birmingham for the best amateur talents under 20.

Young talents with different nationalities, polished by the best coaches in an elite facility, concentrated 24 hours a day in training as professional players to achieve their goal. Since its inception the Nike Academy project gets regular professional football players.

In our visit to the Nike Academy in Barcelona we had the chance to interview Miguel Ángel Martínes, the goalkeeper and the single spaniard in this prestigious program. We spent a day with them to se how they live the experience of professional players.

The period of stay in the Nike Academy is limited. It is a train that goes by fast and you have to climb up, because the  Nike Most Wanted search does not stop. The American brand has already started the process of finding young talents for 2015.

Are you under 20 and think you can be a professional player? you can go to the Nike website and ask for information to participate in the selection.
