Nike has again revolutionized the marketplace with the NIKE SUMMIT event in New York, where they have presented the “Era of Personalised Performance” which has been full of news, and some of them specially important for football fans. Among the people attending the event were Mark Parker, CEO of Nike, and Max Blau Vicepresident of Nike Football. Now we introduce you the revolutionary ANTI-CLOG TRACTION system.
In a new attempt to improve the training and competition conditions for football players all around the world, form amateurs to professionals, Nike, contacted several teams to ask them what they would like to improve about their boots. One young player suggested “it is impossible, but I would like for the mud not to stich on the boot´s sole”. At Nike, the word impossible does not exist, neither does it agree with the company´s policy, therefore Nike had a new objective. Max Blau said, “Nike Football focuses on playing fast during under any conditions, that is why we commit to solve this problem for the athletes”.
When we play on real grass when the field is wet, it is “impossible” to avoid the mud sticking to the boot´s sole, it encircles the cleats and we feel a thick layer of mud that makes us lose the total traction feeling. It becomes another opponent, sue to that slipping is guaranteed, and slipping during a match may cause losing possession of the football that ends up with the opposite team scoring.
During the first attempts, Nike´s development team focused on creating a sole that could repel water but the results were not satisfactory, and you know what they say, “if you cannot beat them, join them”, and that is what they did. After analyzing the mud´s composition they decided to create a lubricant surface that used water as an allied so the mud slipped and did not stick to the sole. The ANTI-CLOG TRACTION sole was born.
Nike sent its new boots equipped with the Anti-Clog Traction sole to different teams from all over the world and as usual, when the training session was finished the players went to clean their boots. The surprise was that thanks to the new sole there was barely any mud to clean up.
Those of you who have been more observant, you have probably seen that Nike does not run away from the confrontation with its direct competitor adidas, due to the fact that we can see some adidas boots full of mud compared to the clean ones made by Nike. Will we see the German brand give them payback in the future? We do not know yet, but what can be seen in the video is that the new technology by Nike works, and they deliver as promised, by improving the conditions we play on.
The revolutionary ANTI-CLOG TRACTION sole will be available for the Magista, Hypervenom, and Tiempo models, and soon for the Mercurial Superfly V.
Do you think Nike is getting a step ahead of the other brands thanks to this new technology? I look forward to read your answers on the comments section!
