Today, the 21st of March, is International Down Syndrome Day, one of the most well-known intellectual disabilities, which currently affects 1 in every 1,100 newborns worldwide.
Fútbol Emotion, joining the fight for the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities, is taking advantage of the launch of the new collection from AFTER90’, its own lifestyle clothing brand, to include a charity T-shirt linked to this cause in collaboration with the Down Zaragoza Foundation, which works to motivate and provide the necessary support to enable disabled people to achieve full autonomy.
The charity T-shirt goes on sale today on the Fútbol Emotion website and also in its shop in Zaragoza (CC Puerto Venecia) to mark International Down Syndrome Day, with all proceeds from sales going to the Down Zaragoza Foundation. This T-shirt has been launched with the aim of showing Fútbol Emotion's support for the fight for the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in both sport and the workplace, raising funds to help the cause and offering members of the Foundation the opportunity to fill specific job positions for people with disabilities.
The design of this special shirt is the result of the creativity of the Foundation's members, who individually represented what football means to them and captured it in various drawings that were compiled by the Fútbol Emotion design team to create the final design of the shirt. Football players in the shape of the three X chromosomes that represent them, a heart surrounded by footballers to show their love for football, a well-covered goal, and the colours of their favourite teams are some of the drawings that make up the design of this shirt, which shows the passion for football of the members of the Down Zaragoza Foundation.
After the shirt was created, the artists from the Down Zaragoza Foundation attended its official presentation at Fútbol Emotion's headquarters, where they were able to see the result, as well as visit the facilities and learn about the work of the company's different teams on what was a wonderful day for everyone.
REMEMBER THAT #INCLUSION MEANS…
World Down Syndrome Day 2022, whose theme refers to the meaning of the word inclusion, is a unique opportunity for the global Down syndrome community to:
· Share ideas, experiences and knowledge.
· Strengthen advocacy and demand equal rights for people with Down syndrome.
· Get their message across to key stakeholders and bring about positive change.
On this special day, we have the opportunity to share our collective understanding of #Inclusion. By doing so, we can start a global conversation that ensures the full inclusion of people with Down syndrome and other disabilities. Ultimately, we can create real inclusion for everyone, in our society.
