With the arrival of the new adidas Predator Edge football boots, the German brand has also decided to revamp its range of gloves to match the new Edge aesthetic of the entire adidas Predator range.

But friends, these new gloves are not only aesthetically different, they also feature certain modifications that significantly improve one of the most widely used goalkeeper gloves in the world.
The first thing we must point out is the continuity of the main construction material, which is thread, giving us a glove that is just like the previous generation, certainly compressive. However, the cuff area has been modified, with a slight change in material that allows us to have a slightly stiffer area that increases the durability of one of the most problematic areas of the glove.
Continuing with the glove design, the side area has also been modified. Previously completely closed, it now incorporates a series of ribs, typical of zoneskin, which will help to increase its durability. These ribs will reduce the friction of the glove when sliding on the grass. A great success.
We come to the key point, which is the silicone inserts. We have moved away from spikes and adopted a new design for these gloves that is directly inspired by adidas Predator football boots. The new zone skin is somewhat more restrictive, as it focuses on the centre and the initial part of the fingers, to be present in classic fist clears, in a more forceful and unified way.
It is less aggressive but more forceful, just like football boots. The feeling of support is retained, but in a more emphatic and complete way.
If we're going to talk about the latex, it's the same, with a slight redesign in the cuff area, as it doesn't go down as far, but is cut slightly shorter, with the same material and interior cuts that we had in the previous generation of adidas Predator football gloves. Of course, they are available with both of adidas' elite range palms, the Urg 1.0 and Urg 2.0. We have already explained the differences between these palms and their performance, but basically the 1.0 version is the same as the one worn by professional goalkeepers and has greater wear, while the 2.0 version maintains a very powerful grip, without reaching the level of the previous one, preserving the palm a little better and being more durable. This is a very personal decision.
As always with adidas, there are versions with fingersave, mixed or classic, and different ranges within the new adidas Predator Edge gloves, a glove that continues the legacy that began with the adidas Mutator gloves, but with improvements and implementations that are present in every save we make with one of the best goalkeeper gloves in the world.
