The new HO Soccer goalkeeper gloves without wrist straps were launched to fill a niche that the Spanish brand had not yet covered. These are certainly key dates for brands; Christmas is approaching and they are well aware that they have the opportunity to make a killing. It’s a frenzied period for new goalkeeper glove collections, with one of the big names, HO Soccer, bringing its new flagship glove to the fore.
Strapless goalkeeper gloves // HO Soccer Phenomenom
The new HO Phenomenom range of goalkeeper gloves is now a reality. Although many of us who keep up to date with the latest developments in the world of sports equipment might think that HO is a bit late to the party, perhaps we need to look at it from a different angle. When a brand like HO Soccer takes the step of incorporating a glove of this type into its collection – such as those found in the adidas Predator gloves, the Nike Mercurial Touch gloves, or even the Puma Future Grip goalkeeper gloves – it means something incredible has arrived. I remember perfectly well what happened with the Spanish brand SP at the launch of the SP No Goal ZERO goalkeeper glove; they were the last to join the trend, but they brought far more experience and reliability to the product than the rest of their competitors.
And it is no coincidence that the Spanish brand has arrived at this precise moment, as the launch of its new flagship model, the HO Soccer Phenomenom, brings with it a host of new features: from the design and a new silo to a new way of constructing the gloves with a new wrist strap and even two new palm designs.
Technical features: HO Phenomenom
The glove brand has unveiled two new products. Firstly, the new HO Phenomenom Pro goalkeeper glove; and secondly, this model, which breaks with the minimalist design we’ve seen so far in the HO Supremo II gloves, and is more boldly and strikingly named the HO Soccer Phenomenom Magnetic goalkeeper gloves – the high-end wristless glove.
Let’s start by talking about the HO Phenomenom Pro goalkeeper glove. This isn’t the flagship model in the range, but we mustn’t forget that it’s a top-of-the-range glove. This new glove is part of the ‘negative roll’ range, offering perfect ergonomics and excellent contact with the football. The most incredible thing, despite its stunning design, is that the famous Aquaformula palm has been replaced by the new TX-200 palm, one of the brand’s latest innovations.
Moving on to the back of the glove, which is completely new and has been designed from scratch to offer the latest technology to football goalkeepers. This new back has been named Brethaprene, a new type of neoprene that offers much greater lightness and breathability, whilst also maintaining the perfect temperature for the hand – particularly given that we are currently in the winter season here in Europe. Finally, two classic features: the small silicone inserts in the knuckle strike zone, known as Soft Silicon 3.0, and a traditional, highly adaptable wrist strap.
It’s time to talk about the Spanish brand’s star glove, the new HO Soccer Phenomenom Magnetic. A glove with a 100% minimalist design, yet with certain touches that show us that cutting-edge technology is very much the order of the day. As with the previous model, the back of the glove is made from Brethaprene, a new type of neoprene, which makes it much lighter and more breathable, whilst also keeping the hand at the perfect temperature. Constructed entirely with a negative cut, and as we mentioned at the start of this post, the new HO Soccer Phenomenom Magnetic does not have a wrist strap with a fastening; instead, it features a fully ergonomic structure that adapts to the wrist. The biggest innovation is found on the palm, as Aquaformula has been phased out to make way for HO Soccer’s new masterpiece, called Magnetic. This new palm composition will, above all, enhance grip in dry conditions.
