New Reusch Pure Contact III goalkeeper gloves

The new Reusch Pure Contact goalkeeper gloves are a bit of a declaration of war. Don’t get us wrong – of course, the battle between brands is something that we sports equipment enthusiasts see every day – which is why the new Reusch Pure Contact 3 is joining the fray in the seamless gloves market.

The new Reusch Pure Contact III gloves have been launched in a deliberate and calculated manner. Let’s be honest; who doesn’t like it when there’s no competition between brands? Of course, the world of goalkeeper gloves is once again undergoing a minor revolution, following the launch of the new adidas Predator gloves and their famous spikes adorning the glove. It’s common knowledge that Reusch is one of those brands that truly excels at the fine art of making goalkeeper gloves. And following what we’ve seen from the brand with the three stripes, the German brand Reusch is making a bold statement with the launch of the third generation of its flagship glove.

We’ve already seen this with the previous generation of Reusch Pure Contact II gloves, which were skilfully crafted and based on the much-admired seamless philosophy. As well as the exclusivity of treating their top goalkeepers as they truly deserve, granting them the privilege of wearing Hugo Lloris’s gloves. Pioneers in innovation, as was clearly evident in the Reusch Pure Contact X Ray Speedbump glove, in two key areas: on the one hand, a leap forward in terms of design, and on the other – and no less important – in technology, with the implementation of the new Reusch Speedbump technology.

The differences compared to its predecessor are minimal, as is the philosophy behind this glove: seamless and minimalist. Reusch thus reaffirms its focus on what really matters to the goalkeeper and strips away everything else – if something works, don’t change it. The Pure Contact I was an absolute and resounding success – undoubtedly one of the most popular gloves, just like the Pure Contact II. This new Pure Contact III goalkeeper glove features a new back design which, whilst similar, has been significantly refined and uses considerably less material, resulting in 100% minimalism.

A feature shared by all Pure Contact III gloves is the neoprene cuff – known in Germany as ‘Free Flex’ – with the exception of the R3 glove, which features an extremely lightweight, micro-perforated mesh that offers excellent breathability. All of them allow the hand to move as naturally and freely as possible. One of the standout features is the wristband, designed in an asymmetrical shape and reinforced on the palm side by a section of high-strength latex that acts as an extended palm whilst also providing protection against the high levels of abrasion typical of a goalkeeper’s contact with the pitch. Below, we’ll go into detail about what really makes any glove stand out, but particularly in this collection, which is designed for all weather conditions and every possible surface.

Pure Contact III G3 Fusion

The brand’s flagship product, the glove designed for the German brand’s professional goalkeepers. This German latex blend is enriched with special adhesive additives offering the very best properties. Of course, we must emphasise that this palm is designed for soft surfaces, specifically natural grass, as the G3 foam is extremely soft, even though Reusch incorporates solid black latex dots that significantly increase durability. Another interesting feature of this palm is that, in addition to the black dots mentioned, it includes blue ‘Aqua’ latex dots, featuring the innovative Hydrograin™ technology which takes grip in wet conditions to a whole new level.

The glove designed to ensure that water isn’t a problem when playing golf. Its blue palm hints at this very point. As we mentioned earlier, Hydrograin technology ensures we have an optimal and perfect grip in the rain. What’s interesting about this technology is that it’s thermo-activated, meaning it kicks in when the palm is wet at a temperature of preferably between 35–40°C. This causes the granules to expand, increasing the surface area of the palm, which in turn creates additional contact points and enhances grip. Despite being an extremely delicate palm, Durabond™ enhances abrasion resistance, so that goalkeepers playing on artificial turf can count on having a glove like this in their kit bag.

Although the mesh on the back of the glove is considerably more basic, this should NOT lead us to mistake it for a low-end glove. This glove is built to withstand countless battles. This latest palm design is designed to provide support for goalkeepers playing on artificial turf or natural grass pitches; it’s definitely the one for those who want excellent grip without compromising on durability.
