As is customary as we approach the start of September, all the sports brands have already launched their collections of football gloves and boots for the first half of the season, and SP is no exception. A new colour scheme and a new design take centre stage in Heat Map, SP’s new collection for the 21/22 season.
Heat Map
Let’s start with the concept behind the pack, with the philosophy behind this new colourway. Heat maps, for those who aren’t familiar with them, are the classic visualisations we’ve been seeing a lot of in football recently. TV programmes and coaches often use this new technique to monitor and analyse players’ movements and positioning on the pitch, so they can then make improvements or even make changes during the match. All of this is represented on goalkeeper gloves – gloves that will be the stars of your season.
As well as a cosmetic change, there are also a few technical tweaks – a sort of facelift that’s always welcome from time to time. Another major piece of news is the introduction of a new model: a glove that will replace the Caos, which we’ve already mentioned in a previous post – the SP Atlas glove.
But let’s now take a closer look at the gloves in this new collection, starting with:
Valor 99
We start with the most classic glove in the entire collection, a glove that will protect your hand and cover it, giving you a feel that’s hard to find in other gloves of this type. The glove hasn’t changed much from the previous generation; there’s just a slight extension of the seam at the fingertips. The colour chosen for this model is red, a striking shade that will mesmerise your opponents.
Pantera Fobos
Another fairly sturdy and well-constructed glove, but this time with a slightly more modern and avant-garde design. Here too, we see a very subtle technological update in the finger-cut area, and, of course, a radical aesthetic overhaul. The colours chosen for this glove are grey and yellow, a fairly understated combination for more traditional goalkeepers.
No Goal
So far we’ve been talking about sturdy, fairly classic gloves, but now it’s time to move on to the most modern and minimalist glove in the collection. The SP No Goal Zero is the ‘simplest’ model of them all, featuring a neoprene body, a negative cut and Acquablock latex – nothing more, nothing less. We can see that the colour scheme is similar to that of the Valor 99 but slightly lighter.
Earhart
We’ll finish with the glove for our female goalkeepers. That’s right, you heard correctly – the glove for our FEMALE GOALKEEPERS! For those who didn’t know or may have forgotten, let us refresh your memory: SP is one of the few goalkeeper glove brands to offer a glove designed exclusively for women’s hands. Technologically, there are no changes, whilst a very light sky blue has been chosen for the colour, giving the glove a very elegant look.
Before we finish, I’d just like to mention that all these models are also available in a waterproof version – in other words, for when we’re training and playing in the rain.
