The new Reusch Pure Contact X Ray gloves are back once again. Following the launch last year of the skeleton-themed goalkeeper glove known as the Reusch Pure Contact X Ray R3, everyone was impressed by the design and the simple yet striking way in which the glove won over the community. Today, to mark Halloween in October, Reusch brings us a second edition, which is far more eye-catching and has even been improved.
New Halloween edition Reusch gloves
With this Reusch Pure Contact X Ray Speedbump glove, the German brand once again demonstrates that it is at the forefront, not only in terms of aesthetics, but more importantly, in listening to goalkeepers’ demands and needs. A bold move – that’s how I see this launch in terms of design, because although goalkeepers were the first to move away from classic colours, a design like this takes things a step further in this area, featuring colours that glow in the dark. It’s perfect for the Halloween season, with the bones of the hand taking centre stage in this launch.
Regarded by many goalkeepers as one of the best gloves currently on the market, the Reusch Pure Contact glove was one of the pioneers of the hugely popular ‘seamless’ gloves – a real hit not only with professional goalkeepers, but also with semi-professional and amateur goalkeepers. Not content with this warm reception, the brand with the arrow logo introduced, alongside the high-end G3 Fusion palm, an interesting palm design featuring small dots, called SpeedBump.
For the first time in the glove market, an additional layer of latex has been injected directly into the high-quality palm foam, creating a 3D latex technology never seen before. Compared to standard flat surfaces, the resulting three-dimensionally structured SpeedBump latex offers greater friction between the glove and the ball. Greater friction leads to better control and, ultimately, a better grip sensation. The geometrically arranged SpeedBump elements also provide the goalkeeper with greater sensitivity and touch when in contact with the ball. Both layers of latex consist of high-quality G3 Ultra Soft, which offers maximum grip in all weather conditions, as well as reliable abrasion resistance when used on natural grass pitches.
Technical festures: Reusch X Ray goalkeeper gloves
One feature shared by all the Pure Contact models in Reusch’s goalkeeper glove collection is the neoprene cuff, known in German as ‘Free Flex’, which allows the hand to move as naturally and freely as possible. On the downside, we do miss the impact and support zones on the back of the hand, as found in the elite range. One of the standout features is the wristband, which is asymmetrically designed and covered on the underside by a section of G3 SpeedBump latex. This acts as an extended palm whilst also providing the high-abrasion zone required for the goalkeeper’s contact with the turf – something that is absolutely essential, particularly when considering the SpeedBump palm.
To sum up: these Reusch X-Ray gloves combine a high-end base model, such as the Pure Contact, with the aforementioned G3 SpeedBump palm, which is highly recommended for soft, low-friction surfaces. On the other hand, if you play on artificial turf, we have a post where we recommend the most suitable gloves for playing football on artificial turf.
