New Atlético de Madrid kit
The new Atlético de Madrid jersey is inspired by the kits worn in 1947, when the club adopted its current name, Atlético de Madrid, and dropped the ‘Atlético-Aviación’ from its name, which is how it had been known until then.
To achieve this, they have opted for larger stripes that cover the entire front and look as though they have been painted in oil, reinforcing this concept of a tribute. Furthermore, the central white stripe is clearly visible, just as it was on the jersey that inspired it.
Another detail on the front and the stripes that we simply cannot overlook is the letter ‘A’, formed by the horizontal stripe, which is yet another nod to the club’s name. These stripes continue around to the back, but leave a clear red panel where the players’ names and numbers will be displayed.
The Spanish flag appears on the back of the collar, as is customary at the red-and-white club, and it is worth noting that this 75th-anniversary tribute is also featured on the away kit.
Moving on to the technical aspects, the jersey is made from 100% recycled polyester, a technique Nike has been using for years and which speaks to the American brand’s commitment to the environment.
The signature technology featured on this jersey has changed from previous years and is now the new Drifit ADV, which combines a sweat-wicking fabric with advanced engineering and fit features that maintain breathability without compromising on comfort in the slightest.
What’s more, the textured knit fabric in the areas prone to sweating helps wick away moisture, keeping us cool and dry at all times. And that’s the new Atlético de Madrid jersey for the 21-22 season – a true revolution in both design and technology that’s sure to delight all Colchoneros.
