Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund) - Puma Future 5.1
In the big match of the current German football scene, we cannot focus solely on the Munich club’s victory, as it became clear during that match that Marco Reus, captain and key figure at Borussia Dortmund, was once again playing in laceless boots. So far, nothing particularly new. What really caught my attention, however, was the fact that he was wearing an outdated version of his usual boot, the Puma Future. In this case, he wore the Puma Future 5.1 from the Rise Pack, a collection that was intended for use at Euro 2020.
James Maddison (Leicester City) - Puma Future Balr
Capitalising on his recent impact at the German club, the English player – who is also regarded as one of the best in his position in the Premier League – was chosen to front the latest Puma x BALR collaboration. In the Europa League match against SC Braga, the midfielder made his debut in his new Puma Future 6.1 boots, with which he even sealed the 4-0 victory over the Portuguese side.
César Azpilicueta (Chelsea FC) - adidas Copa 21.1
For many players regarded as the leading faces of some of the biggest sports brands in the world of football, we are clearly in the season for testing new boot ranges and, naturally, for sharing their initial impressions with the brands. Having already seen the first images in recent weeks of what will most likely be the new Copa 21+, this past week we have also been able to catch a glimpse of some details of the high-end laced version of that same boot, courtesy of Chelsea FC’s César Azpilicueta. One of the details that caught the eye most was the fact that the inner tongue features a small opening on one side, which is a very positive feature in our opinion, as it is an important detail for some players, making it easier to slip the foot into the boot.
Alex Morgan (Tottenham Hotspur) - Nike Phantom GT
The big signing in women’s football in England this year has been Alex Morgan, the American player who recently signed for Tottenham Hotspur. Having barely played since the final of the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France, one of the best players in US history made her debut this weekend for the Spurs, wearing the first colourway of the new Nike Phantom GT boots. The player was already the face of the previous Phantom VNM boots, so her transition to this new model has been seamless.
