As has been the case for several years now, adidas unveils an official match ball for the group stage and another for the knockout stages of the Champions League each season. Based on the same design as the official group stage ball, the ball for the knockout stages is called the Finale Istanbul Pro. Its design combines shades of pink and blue to represent an aerial view of the city of Istanbul and the Bosphorus Strait. The stars are white and feature the famous Starball logo, as well as the official design for the 2020 final, which will be played at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium.

As far as technology is concerned, this ball features no new innovations compared to the one used during this season’s group stage. In fact, it is very similar to the 2018/19 Champions League ball, although it is not identical, as it features a slightly updated panel design. The distinctive star-shaped panels remain one of the ball’s most recognisable features. However, on this occasion, they are not positioned in an area where their edges meet, but rather appear to overlap slightly. This arrangement has probably been incorporated to improve the ball’s durability. The structure and materials used in the outer layer are the same as those introduced by adidas for the 2018 World Cup ball, the adidas Telstar 18.
