The launch of these new kits is packed with surprises and details that highlight just how important winning Euro 2016 was – and continues to be – for Portugal. Although the home kit doesn’t feature any major changes, the away kit is a true tribute to the bold style that Nike Football has been bringing to its away kits in countries around the world. And, as one might expect, the return of green shorts in the Portuguese Football Federation’s kits also stands out – something not seen since Euro 2004.
Nike Portugal Euro 2020 home jersey
Simple, yet elegant and undeniably eye-catching. That’s how we might describe the new home jersey for the Portugal national team. The traditional red and green design is enhanced with a touch of gold that lends an air of footballing royalty—a style reserved solely for champions. Nike has managed to give the jersey a more refined finish thanks to a collar that differs from the usual design. The patriotic symbolism characteristic of Portugal’s jerseys is maintained in the red, green and black colours on the collar and sleeves, whilst the gold names and numbers on the back establish a direct link to the gold of the premium crest.
The kit is finished off with another gold detail: the jersey features a gold “P” symbolising PORTUGAL, printed on the inside of the garment. One of the most striking features of this new kit is the return of the national team’s legendary green shorts, which for Cristiano Ronaldo marks a return to Euro 2004, a tournament that left a bitter taste for the Portuguese star, but which also marked his breakthrough into the elite of world football thanks to his performances in the competition.
Portugal’s new away kit is undoubtedly the centre of attention in this launch. Clearly inspired by the 2016 European Championship away kit, the base colour is a petrol blue, complemented by horizontal stripes in colours inspired by the Portuguese Football Federation’s 2018 training kit. A jersey that promises to stand out on the pitch and which will hopefully bring much joy both on and off the field.
In short, these are Portugal’s new kits for the coming years, which will be seen in action for the first time in the upcoming UEFA Nations League match between Portugal and Croatia. The new kits will be available to buy at Fútbol Emotion from the 4th of September.
We now have the new Italian national team jersey, so we would like to take this opportunity to look back at some of the most iconic jersey worn by Italy in World Cup history.
