Real Madrid never disappoints, and the away kit for the 22/23 season comes with a stunning design. In this case, there are two main colours: violet, in different shades, and black. The latter defines all the details, from start to finish, such as the Real crest, the adidas logo and the various sponsors. It also features on the three stripes on the shoulder, the edges of the sleeves and the round neckline.
A pattern characterised by geometric shapes extends across the entire jersey, covering both the front and back. The kit that Ancelotti's boys will wear during away matches is completed with shorts and socks that are entirely lilac with some black details.
We often see the colour purple in at least one of Real Madrid's kits at the start of the season, but almost no one knows why. In 1931, the Second Republic was established in Spain, during which there were several changes, both politically and for the club in the Spanish capital. During the establishment of the Second Republic, Madrid had to renounce the prefix ‘Real’, only regaining it several years later; it also lost the crown that adorns the official logo and, finally, a horizontal purple stripe appeared. But what did this stripe represent? A very good question, the answer to which still raises many doubts. Some think it was related to politics, while others claim it is the colour of the historic region of Castile. The truth is that even today, the reason for the inclusion of the purple stripe is not known with certainty.
Since then, this colour has been considered a symbol of the club for many years, appearing on Real Madrid's kits for several seasons. Only in the 1997/98 season, under the presidency of Lorenzo Sanz, did the purple stripe become blue, where it remains to this day.
