Building on the official partnership between Benfica and adidas, which has been extended for a further six years, both the German brand and the Lisbon club announced last week the renewal of a partnership based on commitment, innovation and excellence, whilst also unveiling the Red Devils’ new official kits for the upcoming 2021/22 season.
New official SL Benfica 2021/22 kits
One of the most striking features of this season’s jerseys is the year Benfica was founded (1904), which appears on the back of both kits. The home jersey retains the capital club’s traditional red colour, whilst the away jersey returns to white with red detailing and a black crest, evoking one of the most iconic jerseys from the early 1990s.

With the Estádio da Luz providing the backdrop for the unveiling of Sport Lisboa e Benfica’s new kits for the 2021/22 season, the event brought together numerous players from both the first team and the reserve team. Among them were two players who represent both the present and the future of this great Portuguese club.

Pizzi, one of the captains and key players of the red-and-white side, had this to say about the new jerseys: "Both the red and white jerseys are very nice. There’s a detail I really like, which is the 1904 [the year Sport Lisboa e Benfica was founded] on the back; it looks really good. With this jersey, we want to bring our fans plenty of joy and secure victories, and we’ll do everything we can to achieve that.”

Another player who perfectly embodies the spirit of Benfica is Paulo Bernardo. A young player who came through the ranks at Benfica Campus, he also took to the pitch at the Estádio da Luz during the launch event for the new 2021/22 kits.

‘I really like both jerseys [for 2021/22]. I must admit I really liked the detail of ‘1904’ on the back – the year Benfica was founded. They’re really striking. I really liked the colours. I like both jerseys.’
