SL Benfica 20/21 kits

SL Benfica, in collaboration with adidas Football, has recently unveiled not only its new home kit but also its away kit. In a video posted on its social media channels under the slogan “ready for the comeback, ready for the glory”, the Portuguese club has revealed both new kits at once, although they have sparked some controversy amongst certain sections of the more traditional fanbase. Below, we take a look at both jerseys.

We are experiencing a football season that is completely out of the ordinary. In Portugal, this year’s Taça de Portugal final has not yet been played, yet the two teams set to contest it will already be sporting their new kits for next season. Both the Liga NOS champions, FC Porto, and SL Benfica will take to the pitch for this final wearing their new kits for the coming campaign.

The new home kit features a completely revolutionary design which, according to some of the Lisbon club’s more traditionalist supporters, breaks with Benfica’s identity due to the colour chosen for both the jersey and the crest. Under the slogan “Ready for the comeback”, this new home kit is presented in an orange-red shade, with secondary details, such as the three adidas stripes, the sponsor’s logo and the club crest, in a darker shade.

Only the word ‘adidas’ and certain elements of the Benfica crest appear in gold, symbolising the Portuguese club’s titles and achievements. This new kit will make its debut in the Taça de Portugal final against FC Porto.

Ready for the Glory” is the slogan chosen to launch the new away kit. It features an all-black design complemented by silver detailing.

Among the criticisms from some sections of the fanbase is the absence of the usual white stripes, which will no longer feature on SL Benfica’s kits for the coming season. The launch of these new jerseys has been carried out in collaboration with adidas’ global campaign: “Ready For Sport”.
