Top 5 Home Jerseys

We’re just a few weeks away from the start of pre-season, and some teams have already unveiled their new kits for the 21/22 season. That’s why today we’re bringing you our top 5 home jerseys for the coming season.

Pre-season hasn’t kicked off yet, but many of Europe’s top teams have already unveiled the kits they’ll be wearing in their bid to reclaim their place at the top of the global football scene. Will they succeed? Who knows. What we do know is that the five teams we’re featuring today are already winning their first match – the kit battle, that is.

AC Milan

The first kit we’re bringing you today is AC Milan’s new jersey for the 21/22 season. It’s been three years since the surprise announcement. AC Milan, one of Europe’s most historic football clubs, parted ways with adidas – the brand that had been with them for 20 years – and appointed Puma as their new kit supplier. Whilst it’s true that at first it felt a bit strange not to see AC Milan with the three-stripe logo, by now we’ve got used to seeing a feline alongside the Italian side’s crest, and that’s thanks to Puma’s excellent work.

The jersey that Puma and AC Milan have brought us for next season is certainly worth mentioning. Naturally, we’re talking about a red and black kit featuring vertical stripes, which this time are not all the same width. Right in the centre of the jersey is the widest stripe of all, in black. The next two black stripes are much narrower and are positioned so that they run just below the club crest and the brand logo, thereby highlighting both as they sit against a black background. The final two stripes are much thinner than the previous ones and, of course, than the first, thus completing a distinctive design without straying from the club’s essence.

Real Madrid

And whilst we were just talking about partnerships between brands and teams coming to an end, this one seems, or at least for the time being, unshakeable. Adidas has been kitting out the Whites for over 20 years now, and this year is no exception with Real Madrid’s new kit for next season

We’re used to Real Madrid’s jerseys being simple and basic; indeed, we’d even go so far as to call them a bit bland at times. That’s why, when adidas does something different with Real Madrid’s home kit, it’s cause for celebration and discussion. This jersey features details and colours. Firstly, blue takes centre stage once again on Real Madrid’s jersey for the 21/22 season, not because it is the main colour, but because the shade of blue itself, and the way it is distributed across the jersey, makes it stand out far more than the white that covers it entirely. We should also mention the orange details, as they are perfectly incorporated into the jersey and also combine perfectly with the blue and white. In short, you may like this jersey more or less, but what is clear is that this kit will not be just another one of the many that have come and gone without much fanfare in Real Madrid’s history, and for that reason, we have included it in this TOP 5 of home jerseys. Paris Saint Germain

It’s now been four years since the American brand Jordan announced via a tweet that the Nike Swoosh would be replaced by the Jumpman on Paris Saint-Germain’s third kit. Nike’s decision proved a success, and the sales figures reflected this. Since then, there have been several collaborations between Jordan and PSG, to the extent that, for the first time, the Jumpman appears as the main logo on Paris Saint-Germain’s home jersey for the 21/22 season.

This is a simple jersey, of course, but let’s not confuse simple with ugly or boring, because nothing could be further from the truth. A understated jersey in a beautiful dark blue, featuring the Jordan logo and the sponsor’s name in pure white, and a perfect rendition of the club crest thanks to its white outer border. But what about the details? Since the Jumpman brand is responsible for putting its logo on this jersey, they’ve also wanted to leave their mark on the design. A round neck in red and white in true Chicago Bulls style – the franchise where the greatest basketball player of all time achieved his greatest successes. We find the same on the sleeves: that nod to basketball, to the Bulls’ colours and to Michael Jordan. Without a doubt, this is one of the most attractive jerseys we will see this year on football pitches across Europe, and, associated with the image of players such as Mbappé or Neymar, it is set to become a huge sales success.

Olympique Marseille

We’re still talking about Ligue 1 jerseys, but we’re switching cities and brands. This time we’re heading to Marseille to take a look, courtesy of Puma, at Olympique Marseille’s new jersey for the 21/22 season. First of all, we must confess that we are huge fans of OM’s jerseys, as there are few colour combinations in the world that go together as well as white and sky blue. But the fact is that this particular jersey brings together colours, history and design, so it was very difficult to leave it out of this TOP 5.

Puma has sought to take us back in time and remind us of that glorious era when Olympique Marseille reigned supreme in France and Europe. This design is inspired by an adidas jersey worn by the French side 30 years ago, but with certain changes made to blend that retro feel with the modernity of today. The four stripes on the sleeves are undoubtedly the most distinctive feature of this new Olympique de Marseille kit, but we mustn’t overlook the V-neck or the perfect placement of logos, sponsors and the crest on this stunning kit. Puma has been doing things very well for many years, and once again, it proves that it is capable of rising to every challenge it faces.

FC Barcelona

Last but not least, we’re heading to Barcelona to take a look at FC Barcelona’s new kit for the 21/22 season. Did you really think we weren’t going to bring you a kit featuring the Swoosh? When you talk about football kits, you’re talking about Nike – and even more so if you’re looking for originality and beauty in a single design. The American brand has mastered both of these aspects to perfection, and this is reflected in FC Barcelona’s new kit for next season.

We live in an age where everything has already been invented, and it’s no easy task to grab people’s attention. It’s also true that the line between originality and eccentricity is very fine, and that’s where Nike is in its element. At first glance, Barça’s new jersey looks a bit odd. Shapes that don’t quite fit together and lines of varying thicknesses, pointing in different directions and in different colours. But you only need to pay a little attention to realise that Nike has gone straight to the very essence of a football team: its crest. This jersey is nothing more than the Catalan club’s crest transferred onto it in two colours. Bold? Certainly, but what better reflects the city of Barcelona than innovation and the avant-garde? In our view, well done to Nike for proposing this sort of design, and well done to FC Barcelona for accepting it. If you like the jersey, don’t delay in getting your hands on it, because we have no doubt that its sales success is guaranteed.

This has been our TOP 5 home kits for the coming season. In a few months’ time, we’ll see how well they’ve been received by the fans and whether they’ve been a resounding success or, on the contrary, will be remembered as a dark chapter in their clubs’ history.
