EURO 2020
Unlike all previous editions, EURO 2020 will not be hosted by a single country, nor even by two, as was the case in 2000 with the Netherlands and Belgium or in 2012 with Ukraine and Poland. The 16th edition of Europe’s premier international football tournament will be played across twelve cities in twelve different countries.
The reason for this change to the tournament’s format is to mark the competition’s 60th anniversary. The opening match will be played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, whilst the final will take place at Wembley Stadium in London. The Portuguese national team, the current tournament champions, are the defending champions, although Spain, England, Germany and France are also among the main contenders for the title.

This EURO will once again feature 24 teams, divided into Groups A to F. From there, the knockout stage will begin, running from the round of 16 through to the final, which will be held in London.
This Euro will stand out because of the diversity of the countries involved in the organisation, as well as the different atmospheres that will be experienced in the 12 host cities.
Portugal are one of the favourites to win, as they’re gradually rebuilding their squad. What’s more, they’ll still have Cristiano Ronaldo, who’s sure to be a key player for the team, both on and off the pitch. What about you – which team do you think will win Euro 2020? Leave us a comment!
