adidas Champions League Edition football boots

The F50 adizero and Predator Pulse are back in this adidas reissue, inspired by Europe’s top club competition.

The dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy defines ‘beauty’ as ‘the quality of being beautiful, or a person or thing notable for its beauty’. We have contacted the Academy to suggest a third definition, something along the lines of: “a word we should associate with the Adidas Predator and the F50 Champions League edition.” We imagine that upon seeing the photo we have attached, they will include that meaning.

Today we’re here to introduce you to one of the standout releases of 2021. German brand adidas has just launched a reissue of the adidas Predator Pulse football boots and the adidas F50 adizero football boots, two of adidas’s most iconic models, whose design is inspired by the Champions League.

Let’s start with the adidas Predator Pulse football boots, a model that first appeared in 2004 and, 17 years on, adidas has brought us this wonderful reissue. What we like most about these reissues that the German brand usually brings us is how faithful the model is to the original, always featuring the latest sole so that, as well as scoring top marks for design, it also excels in functionality.

The adidas Predator Pulse football boots are remembered as one of the favourite Predator models among fans of the range. They first appeared in 2004, the year of the European Championship, a tournament in which we saw the adidas Predator Pulse football boots on the feet of many players. Today, adidas brings us a remake of these football boots in a colour we haven’t seen before, inspired by the Champions League.

This time, the standout colour is blue: a lighter, more eye-catching shade across the entire leather section, and a darker shade on other areas such as the heel counter, the tongue, the inside and outside of the boot, and the area that sits against the ankle. Moving on to the details, we find two other colours which, whilst very different from one another, combine perfectly with the two shades of blue on these Predators. These are silver, which features on the three adidas stripes, and pink, which adorns the German brand’s logo on the tongue and the Predator element.

But these Predator Pulse boots don’t come on their own; in this pack, adidas has included a pair of adidas F50 Adizero II football boots, also inspired by the continent’s premier club competition. The F50 has been, is, and will remain a hallmark of the history of speed football boots, and even today, we can see top players such as Karim Benzema wearing them in official matches.

Aware of just how special the F50s are to the French Real Madrid striker, adidas has decided to appoint him as ambassador for this special edition, making him the only footballer to receive this honour. Turning to the design, the German brand has opted to use the same colours as on the adidas Predator Pulse football boots, as both models draw on the same inspiration, though this time they have been applied in a different way.

We have a boot that is almost entirely silver, a colour that contrasts with a gradient ranging from electric blue to dark blue on the section connecting the upper to the sole. That same dark blue is used on the tongue, laces and heel, but leaves the German brand’s three stripes bare, allowing pink to add a touch of vibrancy to that area. But we cannot discuss the design without mentioning the sole of these adidas F50 Adizero football boots. As is customary with the adidas X Speedflow range, a stunning chrome finish—in this case, blue and silver—transforms the sole of these football boots into a work of art.
