New in: Nike Snood

Nike’s cold-weather clothing will be one of the key items this autumn/winter in the American brand’s range. The Winter Warrior collection is back for another year to help footballers combat the cold during their training sessions and matches. Stay tuned to find out a bit more about the new Nike Football collection.

Football kit is one of the items that gets the least attention, as we sometimes don’t give it the importance it deserves. This time, Nike Football has decided to improve on a product that was a real hit last year. Let us ask you a simple question: are you feeling the cold? Introducing the new Nike Snood.

Usually, the cold hits our extremities first, and they’re the ones that suffer the most, but it’s not just that – when you’re running, your throat, mouth, ears and nose are the main causes of countless colds, simply because they aren’t properly protected from the cold.

2019 Nike Strike Snood

It’s not all going to be about football boots, so during a season as ideal as autumn/winter, we’ll see how the Nike Snood gets a subtle yet necessary update. This piece of cold-weather gear is perfect for rounding off your training outfit. This garment is specifically designed for playing football, but to be honest, it’s incredibly versatile; it works just as well as part of your snow gear as it does for a casual day out.

The entire design is tailored to the shape of our neck, with a wider section at the bottom, a tighter fit around the rest of the neck, and then widening again around the mouth. A new, fully anatomical design, along with the tiny flaps at ear and nose level, ensures a simply perfect fit, leaving our eyes completely unobstructed. The ‘flaw’ with the previous generation was that it perhaps didn’t adapt quite well enough to the actual needs and movements of footballers.

The range of accessories that Nike is offering us this winter as part of its Winter Warrior collection is endless, as are all its details – such as the one we can see in the ventilation area, which features various holes that allow us to breathe normally whilst wearing the ‘Nike Snood’. And contrary to what you might think, you don’t feel any discomfort in this area, as the very construction of the material prevents it from sticking to your skin, provided you choose the right size for you; what’s more, it doesn’t restrict your voice or your ability to communicate with your teammates in any way.

Mid-range Nike Snood

The Nike Squad Snood version still offers the same fit and protection as its big brother; the only difference is that the laser-microperforated panel has been replaced by a slightly simpler mesh panel.

From a technical point of view, the “Nike Snood” looks like a classic neoprene garment; however, the fabric is labelled “DRI-FIT” – an old favourite that was used for many years in high-performance sports shirts and which will ensure we stay warm when training in extremely low temperatures, whilst also effectively wicking away sweat from the area.
