The Nike Spectrum Pack

New collection of Nike boots. The first we’ll see on the pitch this year, at the highest level in 2021. Spring is on its way, bringing with it more colourful, cheerful days, and Nike is ready to showcase its new colourway, as well as to bring hope and light to the months ahead. Welcome to the Nike Football Spectrum Pack.

Nike football boots feel perfectly in tune with the season ahead. Everything gets colder in winter as temperatures drop and snow falls in many parts of the world, radically altering our mood and energy levels. That energy that winter brings, of course, resonates with Nike’s designers and engineers, as does the contrast with spring. Spring is much brighter, blending with other colours, a symbol of freedom and tranquillity. At this time of year, when we all need that extra boost of energy, football boots are not something to be forgotten, as they play a very important role in our lives and in the energy of the moment.

New Nike Spectrum Pack

There’s no better way to welcome spring than by wearing new, colourful boots. The name ‘Spectrum’ comes from the colours visible in light. Yes, it’s that simple. They’re the colours you can see in a rainbow, for example. And it’s the perfect way to welcome the sunshine, spring and warmer temperatures. Of all the electromagnetic radiation emitted by objects, we call the visible part ‘light’—that is, the part that our eyes can detect and our minds translate into information. This is where the visible spectrum comes into play, where the player’s ability to draw the opponent’s attention and dominate them comes into play.

Nike Mercurial Spectrum Pack

This will be the first official colourway to be unveiled worldwide for the new Nike Mercurial. As we detailed in the launch post, the new generation of Mercurial is, without a doubt, a sophisticated piece of engineering designed to take the football pitches by storm.  The Vaporposite upper really gives us a clear view of the technologies beneath the surface with a transparent effect, which we also saw on the Mercurial Dragonfly.

Although this new generation still features a 360° upper, these new 2021 Mercurials appear to be much stiffer at first glance when compared to the previous generation. But let’s not be fooled: it is this new upper where Nike has focused most of its efforts, aiming to modernise the design and thereby enhance performance. Despite what many of you may already be thinking, Flyknit hasn’t disappeared completely; this material from the American brand’s boots is still present in this new generation of Mercurials, although it has been removed from just one area: the heel.

The first thing that catches the eye and stands out most in the design and construction of this upper is undoubtedly the positioning of the laces. The lacing system on this boot has been moved to the outer side of the boot—a feature previously seen on the old Total 90—to allow the player to have an even greater contact surface with the ball. By moulding these textures directly into the upper using a top-quality material such as Nike Flyknit, it was possible to create a boot that offers a very soft feel and touch, with plenty of flexibility and no issues regarding weight, as these are extremely lightweight boots.

The sole and studs on this boot are completely new. However, if we may say so, we think its aesthetic design is also entirely inspired by the sole design of the old Total 90. That said, this new Nike Hyperquick system features a chassis with a combination of different types of studs. At the heel, there is a stiffer area, with two tapered studs at the tip that will provide immense support when planting your feet to make a quicker change of direction, and we can also see laminated studs across the sole, where these same studs will help with stability and traction on the pitch. We think this stud pattern is better suited to this type of boot and was really the right choice by Nike for this agility boot.

Nike Tiempo Legend Spectrum Pack

The most classic yet modern design is none other than the Nike Tiempo football boots, as seeing a modern-style boot in these colours always catches the eye. White covers the entire kangaroo leather upper, with green detailing on the Swoosh. A look that’s sure to turn heads.

Gerard Piqué’s boots are a real treat, as they perfectly combine classic materials—being kangaroo leather football boots—with a synthetic heel counter that not only reduces the weight but also provides an excellent fit for a leather boot. The sole features ‘Hyperstability’ technology, which, as the name suggests, maintains stability with every step. The quintessential Nike style with colours that really stand out.
