A new Puma football boot makes its debut at this yearâs motor show. Beside it lies the heart of a 911 Carrera, giving it meaning and form. Few cars are as admired and coveted as the â911â. The history of the Porsche 911, the car born in Stuttgart in 1964, spans more than fifty years. For over half a century, it has been showcasing its unmistakable silhouette all over the world. Four years later, a few kilometres away, more precisely in Herzogenaurach, in 1968, the Puma King football boots were born.
A fusion of German beauty and the history of its homeland. Myths brought together. It is a real pleasure when major brands commit to creating pieces such as the one we are presenting to you today. All too often, trends and commercial interests take precedence when decisions are made, sidelining the very essence of the brand and turning its products into soulless entities, devoid of purpose, with a single objective: to sell cheaply and quickly. But in todayâs case, things are different; commercial considerations are set aside in favour of a quality that is often overlooked: authenticity and pride in the myths. Living history.
Puma King Platinum 911 Legacy
Porsche & Puma know how to create legends: from the legendary 911 to the Puma King. Now, these icons of speed have done it again. The King Platinum 911 Legacy pays tribute to the iconic sports car, with 911 pairs. Just when we thought Puma had already shown us the full potential of its classic King range, the German brand has decided to bring the âKingâ back in a reissue created not only for the finest football pitches, but also for lovers of classic cars.
These new football boots are the main reason for their launch; because although the technological innovations in the uppers are the talk of the town, leather boots never let us down. Itâs as simple as that. This time we see extremely soft kangaroo leather, and the positive aspect highlighted by Puma is that this leather does not stretch excessively with use; this means that, like any leather, it adapts quickly to your foot, stretching but without going too far. And this is because Lazertouch technology is applied to the entire upper. These are created using lasers to engrave patterns, which fuse with the leather to create textures that allow the boots to perform at their best. In this case, a pattern has been applied to selected impact zones to further improve the leatherâs ball control.
As weâve seen before, the new King features a conventional lacing system with an upper very similar to that of the Puma Ultra football boot, made from evoKNIT for a smoother fit. For a better sense of support, thereâs the new external heel counter, which will, of course, ensure unbeatable stability during more aggressive movements.
When it comes to the sole, versatility is the name of the game. A boot for everyone. As the FG/AG designation suggests, and as you all know, Puma allows us to use it on natural grass pitches, whether dry or wet, or on artificial turf pitches. We must make a point here, as the AG designation generally means the boots can be used on any artificial turf pitch. As a word of advice, we donât think this outsole is the best choice for first and second-generation AG pitches, as the contact surface isnât ideal for older pitches made of this material. The Rapidsprint stud is made from Pebax, with a mix of conical and laminated studs, offering good acceleration as it is extremely light, as well as good rotation during turning manoeuvres.
