Today we’re talking about the new Nike pack, which introduces a new colourway originally designed for Euro 2020. However, as we all know, the tournament has been postponed until 2021. Despite this setback, the American brand has decided to launch the collection anyway. Its central concept revolves around street football – real football, the kind we’ve all played at some point, with just one rule: to have fun. It’s the football played by amateur players and those competing in World Cup or Champions League finals alike – the football we all started playing as children.
As we shall see, the football boots we’re presenting today share the same colour scheme and are virtually identical to one another. They feature a metallic grey base with black and red detailing. All models incorporate a red stripe, as well as numbers referring to postcodes that the American brand has chosen to include in the design. In addition, we find the Swoosh, Nike’s iconic ‘boomerang’ logo, slightly modified and with a fragmented look. Otherwise, the Nike football boots remain exactly the same and feature no technological changes compared to previous models.
Let’s take a look at all the boots Nike is launching in these new colourways, starting with the most classic model and the one that has been part of the American brand’s range for the longest time: the Nike Tiempo. We’re talking about those extremely soft leather boots worn by players such as Sergio Ramos, Real Madrid’s captain, who will no doubt be wearing them as soon as LaLiga resumes. We’ll undoubtedly see a spectacular colour combination between Real Madrid’s white and the grey, red and black of these new boots.
The second boot we’re looking at is the Nike Phantom Venom, a model designed to enhance shooting power. It’s a sturdy boot that we see on the feet of strikers such as Lautaro Martínez. Here too we find a revamped design, featuring the characteristic metallic grey with red and black detailing, although there are no technological changes.
The same applies to the Nike Phantom VSN, perhaps the boots that incorporate the most technology. They feature Ghost Laces, which conceal the laces, and Quadfit, which provides greater stability for the foot inside the boot. Many have pointed out that this colour scheme bears a certain resemblance to that of the first generation.
We’ll finish with the two sisters of the Nike Mercurial range: the Nike Mercurial Vapor and the Nike Mercurial Superfly. Both are virtually identical, featuring a Flyknit upper and a dual-plate outsole, as well as studs that dig in well on the pitch and provide speed and grip during changes of direction. The only difference between them is the Dynamic Fit Collar, which is a feature exclusive to the Superfly.
