With football returning to normal – or at least to what many consider to be a return to the ‘beautiful game’ as we knew it – brands are taking advantage of this situation to catch up on their product launches. Whether that means unveiling new products for competitions that will finally be able to be played out on the pitch, or laying the groundwork for the coming season.
Against this backdrop, adidas unveiled its new collection – the adidas Uniforia Pack – on Tuesday the 26th of May. As the name suggests, this launch was designed to take centre stage on the pitch at Euro 2020. However, the postponement of the tournament until the summer of 2021 forced the German brand to stick to its launch schedule, offering us a collection of football boots that stands out particularly for its design. With a white base featured across all four of adidas’ boot ranges, the brand has opted for different colour combinations to give each of its silos its own distinct character.
adidas Copa football boots
Those of you who’ve been following me for a while know full well that this new generation of the adidas Copa 20+ rather disappointed me when it was launched. Probably because my expectations were very high and adidas didn’t live up to what many of us were hoping for. Even so, that doesn’t mean this is a bad boot. Quite the opposite, in fact. It remains a very competitive boot thanks to the quality of the materials used in the upper and its light weight. The combination of these two features results in a boot designed for control and dribbling, with excellent ball touch and a level of comfort that’s clearly above average. In fact, one of its greatest strengths is the feeling of comfort it provides right from the start.
Upper
The upper of this boot is made from a single piece and combines two materials in a laceless design. On the one hand, it features soft X-Ray K-Leather, and on the other, Primeknit fabric. Both materials blend seamlessly thanks to FusionSkin technology, which creates a seamless structure with a completely uniform transition between the two.
Chassis
Inside the boot there are several foam pads which, together with the internal heel counter, provide a very comfortable fit and allow the boot to mould to the foot quickly from the very first time it is worn. Furthermore, the stability arch in the midfoot area offers good support without causing any excessive pressure, improving both comfort and stability during play.
Sole
The Exoframe outsole offers a stable and comfortable stride thanks to its two-piece modular construction. The combination of semi-conical studs with a conical pivot stud provides excellent traction, aiding both acceleration and changes of direction without compromising agility.
All in all, this is a very well-rounded boot, capable of adapting to virtually any type of player and any position on the pitch. It’s no surprise that players such as Paulo Dybala, João Félix and Zé Luís have relied on this range to compete at the highest level.
