There were plenty of cases we could have looked at today with the start of the league, but we’ve decided to pick the four most interesting ones (in this case, we’ll be talking about players from the Italian league) – the ones that caught our eye the most. So, without further ado, let’s get started!
Lorenzo Insigne
The first instance involved the Napoli captain, who, after missing a penalty, took responsibility for taking another one, scoring this time. During the first 45 minutes, the European champion was seen wearing all-black football boots. However, many noticed that they were a pair of adidas X Speedflow.1s, the German brand’s speed model. Even more curious was the second half, during which Insigne played in the Copa Sense, boots he had used last season. Why do you think he decided to try the Xs? We look forward to reading your comments in the relevant section.
Théo Hernández
Many will be wondering what Théo Hernández is doing in this episode, as he’s wearing what appear to be standard Nike Mercurial Vapor 14s from the Motivation pack, but only the most observant will know why. Since the arrival of the new generation of Mercurials, the Frenchman had always continued to wear the previous generation, never actually using the new model. A few months after the launch of the Mercurial Dragonfly, Théo has finally decided to wear them, which is why he’s here with us today.
Eldor Shomurodov
In his first league match for Roma, he treated us to a pair of boots that could be described as ‘retro’. The Uzbek player provided the assist for Veretout’s brace whilst wearing a fantastic pair of adidas F50 adizero boots – a pair we’ve seen him wear on numerous occasions. This isn’t exactly breaking news; in fact, Roma’s new striker featured in our column some time ago.
João Pedro
Another example of a player starting the season in a rather old pair of boots. In this case, Joao Pedro has opted for a pair of adidas X Ghosted boots – the previous generation to the current model – but not just any colourway, rather a very attractive special edition. We’re talking about the adidas X Ghosted Falcon, a colourway inspired by the peregrine falcon, the fastest animal on earth.
