New Boateng's Puma Ultra

Today we’re going to talk about a player with a remarkable story. He’s a player with above-average technical ability who has played for some of the top clubs, including Milan, Barcelona and Besiktas, amongst others; he’s a footballer who has always fought, both on and off the pitch, for a better, free and equal world for everyone. Friends, we’d like to introduce Prince Boateng and his new football boots.

Recently, many football boots have been launched that tell a story, such as Messi’s, or that represent a specific player, such as those of Jadon Sancho or Kylian Mbappé. However, the ones we’re presenting to you today are different from all of them. These are boots that speak to the current reality and shine a spotlight on one of the greatest injustices that still exist in our society: racism.

Over the last few months, particularly in the United States, this issue has gained enormous visibility. Unfortunately, many people have suffered and continue to suffer discrimination throughout their lives, even on the football pitch. It is not the first time we have heard news stories related to this issue: matches suspended due to racist chants, players walking off the pitch after being insulted because of the colour of their skin or their ethnic background. We are well into the 21st century and these situations should not occur in sport, on the streets, or in any other sphere of society.

For this reason, Kevin-Prince Boateng, a footballer born in Berlin to Ghanaian parents, decided to play his matches in a pair of Puma Ultra boots customised exclusively for him and bearing a very important message.

As we can see, these are boots with a very profound meaning. One of them bears the phrase ‘Black Lives Matter’, the movement that gained enormous global traction following the death of an African-American man in the United States, an event that sparked numerous protests and demonstrations both on the streets and on social media around the world. Since then, this message has become a symbol of the fight against racial discrimination.

On the other boot, we find the image of a clenched fist breaking chains. This symbol, which also came to the fore during that same period, represents the end of racial oppression and the quest for freedom, equality and justice for all people, regardless of their background.

Finally, on the heel, the most direct message of all appears: ‘No to racism’, a clear statement against any form of discrimination and exclusion.

From a technical standpoint, these boots are identical to the new Puma Ultra. They adhere to the same philosophy of lightweight design, offering a feel very similar to that of a speed boot. Their construction ensures a comfortable and precise fit, whilst the FG/AG outsole provides excellent traction on both natural grass pitches and state-of-the-art artificial surfaces.

Beyond their sporting performance, these Puma Ultra boots stand out for serving as a platform to convey a message of respect, equality and the fight against racism, demonstrating that football can also be a tool for raising awareness and promoting positive change both on and off the pitch.
