New Neymar's boots: the Mercurial "Jogo Prismático"

We’re looking at a very special new release from Nike. The American brand has just unveiled its latest addition to the Nike Mercurial range of football boots. Today, the world has got its first glimpse of the boots that Neymar will be wearing as soon as he can return to the pitch and get back to normal. Let’s take a look at the story behind these boots, designed exclusively by the Brazilian star.

We all know that Neymar Jr. never ceases to amaze, both on and off the pitch. His style of play and the way he lives and breathes football reflect the brightest glare of the spotlights on a football pitch, although, in his case, everything ultimately becomes a true work of art. It is precisely these elements, so unique and characteristic of Neymar, that define both the player and the person behind the footballer. These multifaceted qualities have inspired both Nike and the player himself to create these new special-edition football boots. Boots that perfectly capture the essence of Neymar.

Nike Mercurial Vapor "Jogo Prismático"

These new Nike football boots are a bolder expression of the player’s lifestyle. They reflect the Brazilian footballer’s approach both on and off the pitch. Designed exclusively by Neymar himself, these boots exude personality and feature his new signature NJR logo, used here for the first time. Unfortunately, these new football boots do not mark a generational change, but rather a restyling in terms of colour and aesthetics.

These football boots feature those ‘prismatic’ moments from the Brazilian player’s career across the entire upper. A good example can be found on the heel of both boots, where the words ‘OUSADIA’ and ‘ALEGRIA’ appear – two of the player’s tattoos. The boots’ overall aesthetic retains the same design lines as his latest silo, the SPEED FREAK. These boots showcase and reinforce the long-standing partnership between Neymar and Nike. They also feature details that are significant to the player, such as those found on his first signature boot: Written in the Stars.

Technical features

In terms of technology, we’re still talking about the same 360° Flyknit construction, although it’s incorporated into the boot in a different way, providing greater elasticity and, consequently, making the material softer. The upper is finished with a protective Nike Skin layer, which increases its durability compared to previous versions. The heel area of the upper features an ACC treatment, which ensures the same level of grip even in wet conditions. Nike has also focused much of its research on the outsole to improve this generation; with its two-piece modular outsole, the brand has managed to slightly reduce the width at the edges and significantly increase its efficiency.
