Many people wonder whether there are football boots that are perfectly suited to a particular position on the pitch, and the answer is no. Any pair of football boots can be used in any position. In fact, these days we see a great deal of variety on the pitch: many players in the same position wear completely different models of boots. However, it is also true that, with a little analysis and a quick survey, we can see that there are some models that are used more than others in certain positions. And today we’re going to look at which football boots are most commonly worn by strikers.
As our first choice, we’d like to introduce some Nike football boots – a model worn by top strikers such as Lewandowski, Lautaro Martínez and Harry Kane. These three world-class centre-forwards wear the Nike Phantom Venom, a sturdy boot designed to maximise shooting power, thanks in part to the textured panels on the front of the boot. Furthermore, the laces are offset to one side to prevent discomfort when making contact with the ball.
As a second option, we have boots from the rival brand, adidas. We’re talking about the model worn by strikers such as Benzema, Immobile and Salah – three outstanding centre-forwards who have performed at a spectacular level in recent years and who have chosen the adidas X. These boots have completely different features to those we’ve seen previously: they’re much lighter, have an upper made from a very light and fairly flexible synthetic material, and feature a sole suitable for players with a relatively wide foot. It’s also interesting to note that practically all the players who wear this model opt for the laced version, even though adidas’s top-of-the-range model is actually the one without laces.
As a third option, we’d like to introduce one of my favourite pairs of boots: the Puma Future. These are the boots worn by two of Barcelona’s strikers, Griezmann and Suárez. Two of the best players around at the moment have chosen this model for its comfort. They are truly comfortable football boots, particularly thanks to the soft, stretchy material used on the upper. What’s more, they feature a unique technology: NETFIT, which allows for different lacing patterns to achieve a more personalised fit.
Our final option is once again a pair of Nike boots, a model mainly worn by forwards who play on the wings and base much of their game on speed and dribbling. Many players in this position wear these boots, but, of course, amongst the most prominent are Cristiano Ronaldo, Mbappé and Neymar. We’re talking about the Nike Mercurial, boots whose upper is made using Flyknit technology, resulting in an extremely lightweight design worn by many of the world’s fastest players.
