Mercurial Flame Collection

In fifth place are Mbappé’s exclusive football boots. The French striker has already become the present and future of the American brand and, as a result, has had the honour of wearing boots designed exclusively for him for several years now. A few months ago, the latest in a long line was released: a Mercurial Superfly designed directly by the Frenchman himself. We can see how he has chosen striking and eye-catching colours, in keeping with his playing style and personality. These colours are not unfamiliar to him; on the contrary, they are shades we have often seen on Kylian, for example in his clothing or his hair. Fuchsia, blue and red are the real stars of the show; as well as bringing the boot to life, they form flames, a motif that is repeated across the entire upper.

Mizuno Morelia

After looking at the Nike speed boot, we come across a completely different boot: a natural leather model from the Japanese brand; we’re talking, of course, about the Mizuno Morelia. Although they aren’t exactly a new release, they absolutely have to feature in this top 5 for two main reasons: style and comfort. Let’s start with the second one: comfort. Everyone knows this by now, but for those who haven’t realised yet, we’re looking at what is probably the most comfortable boot ever. Handcrafted from very soft natural leather, the Mizuno model adapts to any foot shape in record time. The design is undoubtedly another plus point for this model. A simple, clean and elegant style are the keys to the success this boot has enjoyed in 2021.

Puma Future Z

Bronze medal for Puma and its Puma Future Z. The model we’re going to discuss now is undoubtedly the boot our experts have used most throughout 2021 – a versatile model that meets all a footballer’s key needs. The Future Z is a comfortable boot thanks to Evoknit Pro, secured by the FuzionFit+ compression band, and it also offers excellent touch on the ball, as it incorporates a very thin layer of gel called Grip Control Pro across the entire upper. You might be wondering why we haven’t put it at number one, and the real reason is the design. I don’t think any of the colourways that have been released have convinced us one hundred per cent.

X Speedflow

It’s hard to compete with Mercurial, but it’s even harder to make a boot better than Nike’s; yet adidas has managed it. In 2021, the German brand launched the new generation of the X, staking everything on Primeknit, a material it has been working with for years. It has undoubtedly been the best decision adidas has made in a long time. In doing so, it has managed to create a boot that is just the right weight, fits snugly and, above all, is comfortable, successfully erasing the impressions this silo had left with the X Ghosted. Honestly, we believe the .1 version – that is, the one with laces – is the best, as we can adjust it to make it tighter or looser.

Predator Pulse

The gold medal goes to a boot that features gold as its main colour. The Predator Pulse from the Legends Pack are the boots that have surprised us the most in 2021. A reissue of an iconic 2004 model finished in black and gold. This adidas boot features all the elements needed to create the perfect football boot. The German brand has chosen to retain the upper of the original model, as well as the tongue. The only element that has changed is the sole. For this part of the boot, they have opted to incorporate the sole from the Predator Freak, a plate constructed from two ultra-lightweight layers.
