Lots of you guys are very young and to talk about football in the 90's sounds very old to you. But for more veteran players, to talk about the 90's is remind us about a more romantic football, less commercial, we miss that. And back then there was a boot that would stand out above the rest., the Umbro Speciali. A boot that Umbro has been able to adapt to todays demands but without giving up the essence of the boot from 20 years ago. But still, most critics were saying it was a brand stuck in the past. But Umbro has decided to be clear this time with their response and take a step forward in this "battle" and the response is the new: Umbro Medusae.
What's so special about this new football boot? The asnwer is that they've been able to combine, in the same mode, their personal style that made them a reference in the past (the 90's I was talking about) with the latest technologies, weights, shapes, structures we find in modern boots.
The first detail that the Umbro Medusae is not giving up on is the leather material in the most important area of the boot: The toe box area that gets in contact with the ball. And as usual, Umbro doesn't use any simple leather. They use a high quality super soft kangaroo leather wich offers:
- Less weight.
- Perfect touch with the ball.
- The best fit as it will stretch to the shape of your foot.
And now the real innovations of this Umbro Medusae. Probably the first one you'll notice is the mesh material that goes from the mid portion in the upper to the back. It's water resistant and provide:
- Forward gravity center which favors shooting.
- Reduces the weight of the boot (less than 200 gr).
- Better fit thanks to the elasticity it offers.
Now lets talk about my favorite element of this boot is the outsole. It's an outstanding piece of this boot. But to be completely honest I do have to mention that it does look like they took some inspiration on the adidas Sprintframe. Still an awesome outsole with thew new Umbro plate, that comes with the reinforcement elements in the midfoot area and the stud pattern as well as the combination of conical studs with triangular studs are just perfect.
Umbro has only produced a few pairs and as always this model is available in Soloporteros by clicking HERE.
