Since the huge surprise we had with the introduction of Nike Magista Obra and Nike Mercurial Superfly in 2014, we have been living some more relaxed months. A stage where we didn't have huge releases that would break the market... And it's been too long!
But relax, this stage of calm is just because there is a storm about to start. The figures are about to start moving and, for what reason? The Champions League Final. This event will be the Fotball Big Bang of 2015 and will be in Berlin on June the 6th, yes, in one month.
If you've been doing some research in the internet you probably know all that's going to happen with all the brand that have been testing prototypes with their professional players. Let's do some recap on the updates.
adidas
adidas was probably the most keeper in 2014. The Battle Pack proyect for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil was totally eclipsed with Nike's Flyknit boots. That's why it seems like adidas is about to bring something big for 2015. If we do some research in the internet it's really easy to find some references that indicate that the 4 silos: adiPure, Nitrocharge, adizero and the legendary Predator, are going to desapear.
Is it a rumor or is it serious? Doing some more intense research we have reached the conclusion that during the past months, the most important players from the German brand have been devided in two groups to test the prototypes. And we've even seen some names. The players which make the most of their skills have benn testing the adidas X or adidas Chaos (we don't yet know the final name) and the creative players have been usgin the adidas Ace or adidas Control
Gareth Bale with adidas X / Chaos blackout
Xabi Alonso with adidas Ace / Control blackout
These two are an example, but if you follow the training sessions of any first division club and you take a look to their boots... You'll already recognize these new models. And the field players are not the only ones to receive updates, because we've also seen some player with prototypes in their hands:
Iker Casillas with adidas Control / Ace Zones blackout
Will these be the final names? will they replace the actual silos or just be part of a bigger collection? We have been asking ourself these questions for some time now and in a few weeks we'll have an answear.
adidas Primeknit FS prototype
In a different chapter we'll talk about the Primeknit FS. Which seamed like adidas trying to eclipse Nike's world presentaion of the Magista was not forgotten and keeped developing the idea. Some day we'll see this boot in a football pitch but with lots of changes from the first model adidas showed to the world.
NIKE
The american brand was the authentic winner in 2014. A new look for the Tiempo silo, the release of the Hypervenom or the outstanding Mercurial Superfly and Magista Obra made Nike the reference in the football boot market. They didn't just create something new and crazy... the thing is that people loved it!
And since we've done some research in all the brands we've seen big players testing more prototypes... It seams like it's going to be a calmed year. Only Hypervenom, silo with a year and a half with the 1st generation, looks like will have a new look. If you take a look to the training sesisons, we've seen two big references of Hypervenom in Spain, Isco and Neymar, wearing blackout boots with what looks like a DynamicFit Collar. So we think in a few weeks we'll see a Flyknit Hypervenom.
Neymar Jr. with Hypervenom 2 blackout
And if we listen to the rumors, it seems like this time not only the top en model will have the Dinamic Fit Collar but also a take down model migh featured it too.
Isco with Hypervenom 2 blackout
This past weeks we have also seen a player which doesn't use Hypervenom with a blackout prototype. It was Carvajal. And it's surprising to see a Tiempo player with a prototype. Could it be the Tiempo Legend VI? Most likely, but we will have to wait several months to find out if it's a new generation of the Tiempo Legend.
Nike's current position as the dominator in the market make's for no need in releasing updated too frecuently. But if we remember the famous chapter where 3 Nike designers joined adidas we really want to find out if Nike can keep it up.
New Balance
How long has Warrior been dissapeard and New Balance making noise as the replacement?
Fellaini with New Balance Football prototype
The strategy chosen by NB to enter in the market is being very intriguing. Player using boots with no color but with a very visible brand logo. Presentation of the brand with their professional players... but never showin us the boot! Lots of noise around the boots but we still don't have a confirmation of the final models, the technology... nothing.

And it seems like it's working because everybody is talking about New Balance but without the boot. They have created desire twards something that still doesn't exist! But we'll see it soon. Soon we will have important updates in the final boots, play tests...
Good job New Balance. They have not only created an excellent product but also have been able to make a great and different marketing campaing previous to the launch.
Uhlsport
And it's not just going to be about boots. Also the goalkeeper glove brands have been preparing some surprises. And there's a sleepy giant about to wake up: Uhlsport. The German brnad, a reference in the market in the 90', had fall in a sprial that let them out of the first place. But a couple of days ago they started to filter some future updates. The Ergonomic model will break in with a complete and espectacular new look.

¿Os habéis fijado en el extraño ángulo que forma el cuerpo del guante y la muñequera? Se trata de un ángulo de 25° colocado de forma estratégica para adaptarse a la postura ergonómica de la mano.

But, probably, what stands out the most in this Uhlsport collection is the latex we find in the two top end models of the Ergonomic line. After dominating the wet gloves market with the Aquasoft they want to do the same with the Supergrip in dry conditions. A new material that we don't know if will be better than the Absolutgrip (which is excellent) but that will definitely become a top end resistant latex in the market.
Next week you'll find out all about this new collection from Uhlsport with SOLOPORTEROS.
Soloporteros
And in Soloporteros we have been doing some things. Our event of the year is not the Champions League final... we wish! It's the Copa del Rey final. The goalkeeper for Athletic Club will be Iago Herrerín and he will have something special in his hands.
SP Valor 309 for lucirá Herrerín for the final.
You'll like the story behind the design. Only days away from the Copa del Rey final we will present the exclusive gloves that will be playing the most important match in the SP history.
