The best strapless goalkeeper gloves

Today we’re here to talk about the best goalkeeper gloves you can find on the market, but with one small catch: they don’t have a fastening strap.

As you know, and as you’ve no doubt noticed, the current trend is towards increasingly high-tech and lightweight products, both in the world of football boots and goalkeeper gloves. Today we’re going to discuss what we consider to be the best goalkeeper gloves without a strap fastening. This type of glove only came onto the market relatively recently, but nowadays practically all brands have included them in their range.

As our first choice, we present a glove from the German brand adidas, probably one of the most widely used strapless gloves. This model represented a genuine revolution and marked a turning point in the world of goalkeeper gloves, thanks to the incorporation of numerous technologies that make it a top-class glove. The adidas Predator 20 is a glove we’ve seen in various colourways: the classic version, the Tormentor Pack version and also the edition dedicated to Manuel Neuer. However, they all share the same features. The back features Flyknit, a highly elastic material that provides great flexibility and comfort. Furthermore, the back incorporates small rubber raised patterns that aid in fist clearances. Finally, it features top-tier latex – URG 2.0 – used at a professional level. The palm also features small grooves that enhance finger and hand movement.

As a second option, we present the glove that started it all: the model that hit the market as the first strap-free glove. Although its early models weren’t particularly remarkable and didn’t offer great performance, today the American brand Nike presents a top-of-the-range strap-free glove that has been improved in every respect. We’re talking about the Nike Mercurial Touch. It features a High Grip latex palm mounted on a negative-cut design and a back made entirely from synthetic material incorporating Nike’s ACC technology. The material used in this glove is, without a doubt, much less stretchy than that of the previous model, offering a much tighter fit.

The third glove is one of our own designs, a glove produced in-house by Fútbol Emotion: the SP No Goal Zero. It is very similar to the previous model, although with a few differences. It features a professional-grade Gigagrip latex palm, also mounted on a negative cut. The back is made from Latex Body synthetic material, with gel in the knuckle area to aid fist clearances. The main difference is that this glove is much longer, extending well beyond the wrist.
