Over the last few months, we’ve seen a host of new releases in both football boots and goalkeeper gloves. That’s why, today, we’re going to take a look at some of the best options for goalkeepers who want to start the season with state-of-the-art gloves featuring the most advanced technologies on the market.
SP PANTERA
We’ll start with a pair of gloves that we personally consider to be one of the most interesting offerings on the market right now. These are the SP Pantera, one of the models that has evolved the most compared to its previous generation.
They are designed for goalkeepers seeking the perfect balance between durability and technical performance. They feature a high-quality 4 mm QBlock latex palm, developed to offer top-class grip and performance.
They also feature a Rollfinger 2.0 cut, which increases the contact area with the ball and enhances the feeling of security with every save. Thanks to their combination of performance and price, the SP Pantera are among the best options in terms of value for money.
PUMA FUTURE
The second option is the model worn by one of the world’s leading goalkeepers: Jan Oblak. As with his boots, the Slovenian goalkeeper opts for Puma’s Future range.
This glove is completely different from the previous one, with a much more minimalist design. It is lightweight, has no traditional fastening and features a zip-up system that makes it easy to slip your hand in.
The palm features 4 mm of black Elite Grip latex with white detailing designed to improve grip. On the back, there are gel inserts that aid in fist clearances and provide greater protection during punching actions.
ADIDAS PREDATOR
This selection wouldn’t be complete without adidas’s most iconic model. The Predator is worn by some of the world’s best goalkeepers, such as Marc-André ter Stegen, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Manuel Neuer.
In terms of construction, adidas has opted for a body made from a lightweight, highly elastic fabric that moulds perfectly to the goalkeeper’s hand.
The palm features the renowned URG latex, developed to offer maximum grip, whilst the back of the glove incorporates Demonskin technology, consisting of rubber elements that enhance the effectiveness of fist clearances.
NIKE PHANTOM ELITE
Nike has also recently revamped its range of gloves with the launch of the Phantom Elite, a model that offers a different alternative to the traditional Mercurial range.
The American brand has opted for a fairly classic design, featuring a negative cut – a favourite amongst modern goalkeepers due to its snug and precise fit.
The palm features 4 mm of high-end black latex, a choice that also helps to conceal wear and tear and dirt accumulated during use. The result is a stylish, comfortable glove designed for maximum performance.
REUSCH ATTRAKT FREEGEL
Let’s now turn to a brand specialising exclusively in goalkeeper gloves: Reusch and its latest model, the Reusch Attrakt Freegel G3 Fusion LTD, which features predominantly blue and yellow colours that complement each other beautifully, giving the glove an elegant yet aggressive look. This is the glove worn by Lloris, captain of the French national team. Here too we find a 4 mm palm for those seeking top-level grip.
