What does AG mean in a pair of Football Boots?

AG (Artificial Ground) Artifical Glass

The increasing number of artificial turf pitches in both amateur and professional categories has made it necessary to adapt footwear traditionally designed for natural grass or clay to this new surface, which has very different properties to the aforementioned terrains.

The recently created AG (Artificial Ground) soles have additional studs to help grip the artificial turf while allowing turns without sticking, thus minimising knee problems. The greater number of studs also reduces wear on synthetic turf, which is more abrasive than natural turf.

These soles were traditionally used on mid-range or low-end models, but the introduction of artificial turf in professional football has led brands to manufacture high-end boots with AG studs.
