The film industry has never managed to produce a football film that can be considered an unqualified success. Even so, and despite the difficulty involved in realistically portraying everything surrounding the sport – from what goes on behind the scenes to the intensity of the matches themselves – there are numerous films centred on the world of football. Today we’d like to share with you our selection of the best football films.

Today we’re launching a new section on our blog: the Fútbol Emotion Diary. In this new fortnightly feature, we’ll be exploring interesting facts and stories related to the world of football, ranging from the history of the major sports brands to other topics that have shaped the evolution of the sport. In this first instalment, we’ll be talking about Umbro Football, a brand whose history has been closely linked to football practically since its inception. After several years out of the limelight, Umbro seems to be regaining prominence and aims to reclaim its place amongst the major sports brands specialising in football.

In early 2018, on the 3rd of February to be precise, the Spanish football world was once again in mourning following the death of a player aged just 15 from ‘sudden death’. All sports involve a degree of risk; although many injuries are caused by isolated accidents, we must try to prevent them and remain vigilant through annual check-ups.

Today we continue with a new selection dedicated to the great matches that have shaped the history of football. On this occasion, we’ve chosen the five derbies which, due to their rivalry, tradition and impact, we consider to be the greatest in the world. We know there are other historic matches that would also deserve a place on this list, but this is our selection. The 2020 Copa Libertadores, South America’s equivalent of the Champions League, has already kicked off. It is a competition that captivates millions of fans, sparks immense passion and features an exceptionally high standard of play. Furthermore, it is one of the most important club tournaments in the world, with only the Champions League surpassing it in terms of prize money. The new year begins with the presentation of certificates to the Player of the Month. This is a section where players from our training programmes will be assessed and recognised by the coordinators of our schools. Here are the first recipients of 2019.

Here at Futbol Emotion Academy, we’ve been able to celebrate another Christmas with a truly impressive line-up of goalkeepers at more than 20 different locations across Spain. The main new development this year has been that we’ve also extended our training programme to outfield players. Outfield players (whether in 11-a-side or 7-a-side football, or futsal) have also been able to benefit from our method to improve their individual technique on the pitch. We’re sure that in future editions we’ll be making our presence felt at various locations across Spain.

As 2018 draws to a close, the pupils at our schools are in top form. Both new and returning pupils are gaining knowledge and hands-on experience at each of our centres. The improvement is plain to see week after week in all our pupils, and particularly in our goalkeepers of the month.
