Anyone familiar with the world of football boots, and particularly with this range, will know full well that Nike Mercurial boots are not only regarded as some of the best speed boots on the planet, but are also among the best-selling and most successful models. When we add to all this the factor of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé and Samantha Kerr—the three players featured in the two previous versions of this collection dedicated to speed, all of whom are known for their extreme pace—we have a concept that simply has to work. The clearest proof of this is that we continue to see design marvels like this in the form of the Mercurial Dream Speed.
Nike Mercurial Dreamspeed 003 football boot
When we look back at the two previous versions that have already been released, we can see how the American brand has focused on designing and manufacturing Nike football boots that not only enhance the player’s speed through their various technologies, but are also breathable. They let you move faster thanks to the bold, cutting-edge design they always feature. One of the main new features for this launch is that this third edition of the boots will feature more players on the pitch. One we can certainly confirm is Ansu Fati, the young star who already wears the new FC Barcelona jersey and continues to amaze everyone with his fast and attractive style of play.
As for the collection itself, many fans of the brand on social media around the world were claiming that this edition would only be worn by Cristiano Ronaldo, simply because numerous images had been leaked of the other items in the collection, all of which also feature the Portuguese star’s personalised logo.
However, he couldn’t be more wrong, as the boots – with the sole exception of a small detail on the insoles – do not feature any personal details of the Portuguese international. The reason behind all this minor confusion on social media was that Nike wanted to surprise the Juventus player with a unique, bespoke boot, as a tribute to his 100 goals for his national team.
MDS 003 design
As for the design—which, as always, has a rich history behind this collection—you can see how the new Nike Mercurial football boots feature a diagonally split graphic design, a highly original way of showcasing all their key details, making this boot even more visually striking and appealing to all fans of the Mercurial range. On the upper, we highlight the presence of several classic patterns from previous designs in the Mercurial CR7 football boot range, which have been incorporated following the same pattern and with the latest Mercurial Safari version in mind.
Drawing inspiration entirely from some of the earlier Nike Mercurial models worn by Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as some of the brand’s most striking editions, Nike has undoubtedly created a boot with a unique look, where the source of inspiration for this model is clearly evident. A look clearly inspired by the 2010 Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II Safari CR7 and the 2011 Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7 III.
Technical features: MDS 003
For anyone hoping for some sort of update or technological innovation in these new MDS boots, we are afraid we’ll have to disappoint you. This is the same version of the Nike Mercurial football boots that was launched in the summer of 2019. However, it’s always worth recalling some of their features, at least the most important ones:
- Microtextured Flyknit upper with NikeSkin overlay
- ACC (All Conditions Control)
- Two-piece modular outsole system with internal heel counter
- The Swoosh design on the toe box has a more textured finish, which helps provide better grip when touching the ball
So here are the new Nike MDS 003 boots, which we’ll be seeing these players wear on the pitch from today onwards, and which are also available to buy on the Fútbol Emotion website.
