These are João Félix’s new football boots, the adidas X SpeedFlow

adidas has today unveiled the latest generation of its speed boots. These are the new adidas X SpeedFlow, and today we’re going to take a closer look at all the reasons why the German brand has gone all out to completely overhaul the design of these boots.

We’d already received loads of messages on various Fútbol Emotion social media channels asking about the boots Georginio Wijnaldum was wearing at Euro 2020. Despite adidas’s decision not to launch this new model during the tournament, the fact is that the Dutch footballer wore a blackout version of the new adidas X SpeedFlow with laces throughout his four matches.

With this new launch, and also given the German brand’s reorganisation regarding the players who will be wearing this model in the coming months, it is easy to see that adidas Football will also be undergoing a reorganisation in everything to do with its football boots. However, nothing has been confirmed as yet, and we will simply have to wait until the official launch of its new collection, which is due to be released later this month.

Design

This new generation features a completely revamped design, which makes it immediately clear to all fans that this boot is a world away from the previous, rather unpopular generation of the adidas X Ghosted.

For the launch of this new generation, adidas has opted for a Red / Black / Solar Red colourway, giving João Félix’s new boots a completely innovative and striking look. These adidas X Speedflow football boots feature a spectacular design in red, black and white, with electric yellow chosen for the interior of this new model.

Technical features

When we first look at these adidas X SpeedFlow boots, the first thing that springs to mind is the major update the German brand has made to this new generation of the X series. This improvement is particularly noticeable around the collar and ankle area.

The main difference in this new generation – and the most obvious one – is precisely the new design around the ankle and tongue area, where we can see that both sections are now higher and, as a result, offer a much more secure fit and a better sense of lockdown.

However, the innovations in the upper don’t stop there: the boots still feature adidas Primeknit, a top-quality material from the German brand that provides extra comfort for any player wearing them.

This high-quality, ultra-comfortable fabric is complemented by a textile material that will allow all players making the switch from the previous generation to this new version of the adidas X to notice the difference in fit and comfort right from the start.

The fit is enhanced by the inclusion of a Stabilising Agility Cage, which works much better than the Vacuum Fit Experience, as well as an internal TPU cage that helps improve the fit and prevent any internal roll-over within the boot.

Both the Professional + and .1 versions feature the same “Carbitex” carbon fibre insert in the sole as seen in the previous generation, giving the boots exceptional lightness and stability.

And these are the key new features of the new adidas X SpeedFlow boots, a new range from the German brand that’s available to buy from today on the Fútbol Emotion website.
