Top 3 mid-range football boots of 2020
Among the wide range of mid-range football boots available on the market, there are many that stand out for their excellent value for money. However, for this list of the best mid-range football boots, we have decided to select only those that we consider to be perfectly suited for use even at a professional level.
adidas X Ghosted.2
This version of the German brand’s speed boots is made from synthetic microfibre, which is a real plus, as it means these adidas football boots can be worn on both dry natural grass pitches and wet grass. The new one-piece upper has been designed to minimise the boot’s weight, making it lighter and sleeker than the previous generation, just like the high-end models. Despite the limited elasticity of the material in the upper, the fit feels very comfortable and precise. The outsole is identical to that of the professional ranges, as it retains the same stud design, with one key difference: it does not feature the carbon plate, an element that provides greater stability, flexibility and lightness in higher-end versions such as the Ghosted+ and Ghosted.1.
Lotto Solista 200
This new generation of the Solista 200 offers a very compelling proposition: a professional-grade boot worn by one of Lazio’s top midfielders, for under €150. The upper is made from the same materials as the laceless version, featuring a soft, lightweight knit fabric that works in tandem with the laces to provide a perfect fit in all playing situations. This Lotto material moulds completely to the shape of the foot, offering an ideal fit for fast players. The outsole is another of this boot’s strong points, as its conical studs are combined with triangular studs on the plate, which features a stabilising bridge and the Punto Flex system in the metatarsal area. A detail that, on its own, really makes all the difference.
Nike Mercurial Superfly Pro
These mid-range Nike Mercurial Superfly Pro boots are among the hardest for us to describe in a single word. To understand them, you need to bear in mind that within Nike there are four tiers in each boot range: Elite, Pro, Academy and Club. The differences between each tier are clear, particularly in terms of design, where the higher tiers clearly feature a more refined finish. However, there are two tiers that can easily be confused if you don’t look closely: the Pro and Elite ranges. In this case, we’re talking about the Superfly Pro, boots with a feel and comfort very similar to their top-of-the-range counterpart, thanks mainly to their Flyknit upper, which offers a clean feel on the ball. Support and stability are achieved through the internal mesh lining the entire upper, an internal heel counter that secures the foot in place, and a non-slip insole. The outsole maintains a configuration very similar to the Elite range, featuring a two-piece modular plate. The studs on the forefoot are designed to offer maximum traction during bursts of speed, whilst those on the heel aid in braking and provide stability.
