Romelu Lukaku – Nike Mercurial

We’re kicking off our post with a striker we’ve already seen in the first episode of ‘Look at that boot!’. The Inter forward took to the pitch wearing a pair of Nike Mercurials, boots he’d already worn earlier this season. The Belgian’s case is quite intriguing, as he’s gone back to his roots. For practically the whole season he has worn Mercurials or Phantoms; later we saw him in a pair of Copas, and at the ‘Diego Armando Maradona’ stadium, he went back to wearing Mercurials. We don’t know exactly why he’s been switching them up, but one thing we’re sure of: the Belgian loves wearing and trying out different boots, so we’ll surely be seeing him again in this section!

João Pedro – adidas X Ghosted Falcon

After an incredible comeback that secured their survival, the Brazilian Cagliari player sat down alongside Parma’s Kurtic, with tears in his eyes following a defeat that brought his team ever closer to relegation. As well as treating us to this spectacle and demonstrating the importance of emotion in football, the Sardinian side’s captain wore a pair of vintage boots he had been wearing for a long time: the adidas X Ghosted Falcon, a special edition of the German brand’s lightest boots. The design features the silhouette of a falcon, further emphasising the concept of speed, a quality shared by both the adidas boots and the Brazilian player himself. A truly spectacular adidas boot, with a stunning design that Joao Pedro wanted to bring back onto the pitch.

Dragowski – Mizuno Morelia Neo

He is undoubtedly one of this season’s standout performers. The Polish goalkeeper is saving Fiorentina from suffering heavy defeats. We recently saw a significant change in his footwear, as he switched from adidas to a brand that is gradually becoming increasingly popular among young people: Mizuno. That’s right, the ‘Viking’ swapped his Predator Freak.1 boots for a pair of Mizuno Morelia Neo, a completely different style of boot. We all know the quality of the Japanese brand’s boots, which is progressively expanding its partnerships with young talents. The boots worn by Fiorentina’s number 69 offer comfort and advanced technology, a perfect combination for the Viola goalkeeper.

That’s all for today. Have you spotted any other players wearing boots that are different from the usual ones? Feel free to leave a comment. See you in the next post about Serie A players’ boots.
