For years, Reusch has been providing us with goalkeeper gloves and equipment. Every season, we look forward to new releases from this brand which, since its inception, has consistently amazed us with spectacular products that have even inspired other brands to grow and evolve. We are not wrong in saying that Reusch is the go-to brand for goalkeeper gloves, and it has proven this over the years, consistently introducing innovations and state-of-the-art accessories. And this year has been no exception: it has brought us some great gloves and, to round off the year, has decided to launch a new Reusch Attrakt collection, bringing one cycle to a close but immediately starting a new one. In fact, with these new models, it bids farewell to 2020, but also welcomes 2021, a year in which the brand has high hopes, especially as the EURO will finally take place – a great showcase for its gloves to shine.
The Italians are also in luck because two of the brand’s top ambassadors play in Serie A. We are, of course, talking about Juventus goalkeeper Szczęsny and Atalanta goalkeeper Gollini. We’ve seen them wearing the new gloves for several weeks now, and in fact, ‘Piergollo’ even saved a penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo whilst wearing them.
Reusch Attrakt
Obviously, it’s not just a single glove that’s coming, but a whole collection, so we’ll have a wide variety to choose from when picking our favourite style. This has both pros and cons. On the one hand, it’s true that having lots of styles to choose from allows us to pick the glove that best suits our needs; but, on the other hand, it’s also true that having too many options can end up confusing us a bit.
Let’s start with the colour scheme. As you know, the Germans never go for designs that are too aggressive or flamboyant. Quite the opposite: they always opt for a classic look, focusing not on eye-catching aesthetics but on the functionality of their products. That’s why we see one dominant colour, blue, which covers practically the entire glove, both on the back and the palm. Of course, there are also other colours that highlight certain details, such as the ‘Reusch’ lettering in white or the new collection logo in red or white. Furthermore, there are some red models with a blue palm, which will perform at their best on particularly wet pitches.
But let’s see what has actually changed compared to previous generations. As we’ve already mentioned, there are several models available, so each one features small details that vary from one version to another. That’s why we’re going to focus on the essence of this new collection and what has actually changed compared to the previous one.
We have a much lighter glove that fits the hand more snugly thanks to the breathable neoprene on the back of the glove. There are also gel inserts to help with fist clearances. In the model worn by Hugo Lloris, there is no gel, but rather latex over the neoprene, designed to give the glove a slightly more cushioned feel.
The real innovation lies in the palm, which features the new Grip Fusion latex, a compound designed to offer the best possible grip in all conditions: rain, snow, heat or cold. A latex approved by some of the world’s best goalkeepers.
Finally, we find Reusch’s now-classic cut, a combination of hybrid and negative cuts.
