For Lorenzo Insigne, the 21/22 season could be his most satisfying yet on a personal level, as he is closer than ever to winning the league title with his team, Napoli. If it ends well, it will be a season he will remember for the rest of his life, not only because of the title victory, but also because of all those times he decided to change his boots and the way he put on his socks. In today's post, we analyse and try to explain everything that goes through Insigne's mind.

Every Sunday he surprises us with his plays, goals and assists, but if we pay attention to his outfit, we realise that he is a player unlike any other, an athlete who this year is introducing many changes to the way he dresses on the pitch, both in terms of his boots and his socks. For those in the know, Insigne is sponsored by adidas; more specifically, he represents the Copa Sense silo, the German brand's leather boots. However, for the past few weeks we have seen him wearing the X Speedflow, adidas' speed boots. Lately, he has been using the latter silo much more frequently, although he has not yet definitively become an X player. This is a very interesting case that will go somewhat unnoticed today, as we will be discussing his continuous change in the way he wears his socks.
Anyone who follows Insigne will have noticed that until a few weeks ago he was using the most modern method of wearing socks, the same one used by Depay and Dybala. In this case, the sock is pulled down as far as possible, leaving the calf freer and allowing it to “breathe”. This is something that more and more players are doing, a new fashion that the protagonist of this blog has, however, abandoned. We are not sure why, but what we are convinced of is that Lorenzo is in a period of transition and change, in which he is trying everything to play as comfortably as possible.
In recent matches, he has worn his socks in the most classic and simple way possible, pulling them up above the knee or just below it. This is the method we see most often, partly because it is the most traditional and comfortable. Obviously, he still uses grip socks as a base for the cut-off socks, which are secured with tape; the only change is the one we just mentioned. Why do you think he has changed the way he wears his socks? Honestly, we think he wants to try a bit of everything and, after wearing them in different ways, decide which is the best option. What's more, we're pretty sure he'll go back to wearing them like his teammates Dybala and Depay.
