Despite the name and the huge buzz Puma generated with the early release of a teaser version of these boots, the truth is that the German brand didn’t make quite such a splash among the football boot enthusiast community. This was largely due to the limited number of pairs available in that version, and also to the fact that they were seen almost exclusively on Neymar Jr.’s feet.
This little “teaser” went viral on social media, with the usual support from football influencers, with the aim of generating some buzz around the final version, which is now available to everyone thanks to the official launch of the “Game On Pack”.
Puma Future Z “Game On Pack”
I know that many of you are probably wondering how Puma could have switched from the Future 6.1 to these new Future Z football boots in the blink of an eye. The reality couldn’t be clearer. With the arrival of a player like Neymar, the German brand couldn’t simply assign him just any old model from its existing range.
With this in mind, and bearing in mind that we’re talking about Neymar—one of the icons of world football and one of the most technically gifted and fastest players on the planet—Puma managed, in record time, to create a new range, partly inspired by the original Future boots, and to develop boots that we consider perfect for players like Neymar: fast, daring, and unafraid to dribble past and take on any opponent. To achieve this, it was necessary to create a boot with a new fit, capable of offering better grip on the ball, as well as providing excellent fit and stability.
Upper
In the ‘teaser’ edition that Puma launched in December, we saw how the FuzionFit+ technology was presented in a vibrant fluorescent shade, set against a white background, ensuring that this new technology from the German brand took centre stage over every other aspect of these Puma football boots.
With the launch of this version, now dubbed the final version and set to be available as part of the “Game On Pack”, the fluorescent colour takes centre stage on the boot, whilst the central band across the midfoot – which represents the key technology of these boots – comes to life in a darker shade, though it retains the same prominence as in the teaser version. In terms of design, Puma completes this upper with small white details carefully placed on the FuzionFit+ central band itself, as well as the word that gives this new model its name, FUTURE, painted in white and positioned on the inner sides of the boot.
The centrepiece, or key technology, in the construction of the new Future Z is its new design and fit. Puma has named this concept FuzionFit+. It is a technology that provides greater stability and support during the most aggressive movements, thereby also increasing the player’s agility. In addition, a thin layer of GripControl Pro is applied to key areas of the upper to reinforce the instep and offer a more precise touch and better ball control.
Sole
In the previous generation, the Future 6.1’s outsole was already extremely effective, to the point of being one of the few high-end boot outsoles fully suited to use on both natural grass pitches and any type of artificial turf (FG/AG). The German brand has decided not to alter this aspect in this new generation, but has introduced a change that directly affects both stability on the pitch and comfort. To provide the best possible support for any multi-directional movement, both in training and in matches, the new Future Z features an innovative ‘Z’-shaped outsole, which, as well as representing a significant technological improvement, also works in the boot’s favour in terms of marketing for Puma Football.
And that’s all there is to say about Puma’s latest release, the new Future Z. What do you think of the new boots worn by Neymar and his teammates? Don’t forget that you can now buy your own on the Fútbol Emotion website.
