SP Serendipity Neón Pack

Following the launch in August 2018 of one of the Spanish glove brand’s top-of-the-range gloves, absolutely nothing had changed; neither its technologies, nor its colour schemes, nor, of course, its approach to and understanding of the classic goalkeeper. Today, SP is bending the rules a little, launching the new Serendipity Neon collection.

The new gloves from the Spanish brand SP have been a long time coming. Everything has a purpose and a reason for being. Nothing that happens is down to chance, and there’s no need to look for it, as the name itself suggests. It’s been a strange, unusual season, one for which we’ve had to prepare ourselves mentally. SP is always on the athlete’s side, and now more than ever, on the goalkeepers’ side. SP goalkeeper gloves, as we have always said, are known for offering goalkeepers absolutely every style and approach that exists in the world of goalkeeping. They are always manufactured from a critical perspective, made by and for goalkeepers.

2020 will soon be a thing of the past, but there are two major moments from the SP brand that we must highlight: the launch of the Summit Pack collection, in which the SP Pantera Fobos goalkeeper glove was the star attraction, the flagship product; and, secondly, this new Serendipity Neon Pack, which we’ll discuss below.

Until now, the SP Serendipity goalkeeper gloves had been like that seasoned, serious goalkeeper who never strays from the line for a single second. A collection with crystal-clear intentions: to pay homage to the classic goalkeeper glove. We all know that the market is awash with colourful gloves made from increasingly complex fabrics, which have turned this accessory into a fashion statement. But fashions come and go. And amidst these comings and goings, there is one style that is always popular, whether we’re talking about the 1980s or 2018: the clean, single-colour glove, and that colour is either white or black.

WHY SERENDIPITY?

The name takes its inspiration from the word ‘serendipity’. Serendipity is a valuable and unexpected discovery that happens by chance whilst you are looking for something else. SP Fútbol has named this range ‘Serendipity’ because, whilst searching for eye-catching gloves, you’ll come across an elegant pair that you’ll fall in love with instantly. The design sets the tone for how you defend your goal. You’re playing away, the crowd hates you, but you’re above all that. You’re the master of the box, your domain where you won’t let any opponent control the ball. Passion, determination, courage and perhaps a touch of madness will be the hallmarks of this model. Winning with a clean sheet is what matters most.

On this occasion, SP is breaking with convention and introducing neon colours to the Serendipity range. Neon colours became hugely popular in the 1980s, although they originally took the form of lights arranged in tubes, with gases that produce that characteristic glow in different shades depending on the gases used; these were later adapted as colours for clothing, paints and other items. There will be 5 colours:

Neon = Orange
Helium = Yellow
Mercury = Blue
Argon = Pink
Neon green

Regardless of the colour we choose for these goalkeeper gloves, we would classify this Serendipity model as a padded glove, characterised by a back covered in high-density padding. But don’t let that fool you: the body of this glove is made from breathable fabric, and although it appears to be covered in latex, the glove perfectly combines breathability with lightness. This is certainly the model that offers goalkeepers the most padding, turning its back entirely on minimalism.
