Although it may not be a futsal shoe, during this post of the day, we will talk about one of the innovations presented by NIKE during its convention in New York on March 16, a pair of shoes that tie themselves!!!
NIKE HyperAdapt 1.0
The American brand has officially presented the new NIKE Hyperadapt 1.0 and has also announced that in 2016, -one year later than the prediction made by Robert Zemeckis in 1989 in his movie “Back to the Future II”-, the company will launch its first pair of shoes with a shoelace system able to tie automatically. These are meant to be a real product line, and not just a tribute to the movie.
“This innovation by Nike is not about dreaming about the future, but to speed up towards it”, said Tinker Hatfield, NIKE designer. “We are able to anticipate athletes´ needs because we know them better than anyone else. Sometimes, we deliver a reality before others have just started to imagine”.

In order to make this innovative system possible that NIKE has been able to develop happened thanks to an intense research in digital, electrical, and mechanical engineering towards a product designed for movement, that revolutionizes the traditional fitting concept, proposing a final solution to individual idiosyncrasy when it comes to the pressure at which we must tie our shoes.
This way, the NIKE HyperAdapt 1.0 will recognize the heel when it is in place, which will activate a sensor that will automatically adjust the shoe to perfectly adapt to the foot. Also, thanks to its two buttons on the sides it will be possible to tighten or loosen up the shoe in case the automatic fitting is not feeling comfortable enough.

In 2013, Hatfield and Tiffany Beers, Head of Innovation at Nike, started working to create an automatic system to tie the shoe. It was in April 2015, when Beers had the idea of designing the NIKE Mag to celebrate October 21st, 2015, the true date that appeared in the movie.

“The potential of the automatic shoe tying system is huge for the user”, Hatfield said, since it provides the possibility of a personalized fitting within seconds. “It is amazing to have the opportunity to wear a shoe that detects what the body needs in real time. This eliminates a lot of distractions, including mental exhaustion, and therefore, it gives us performance advantages.
The question we hae at Soloporteros is: Will we see this amazing technology, on a futsal pitch, in a near future?
